Martian Tripod - update and planned new releases.
« on: November 18, 2009, 12:24:15 AM »
Earlier this year I posted pictures of my finished Martian Tripod.

http://littleleadmenofvalour.blogspot.com/2009/05/martian-tripod-is-finished.html

The Martian tripod will hopefully be fully available through Eureka in the new year. Over the Christmas period I plan on making the following to add the the new range:

Martians
Martian servants/food
Crashed cylinder
Edwardian civilians
Black smoke launcher

I am also going to have a "overlord" tripod where the upper leg sections are altered so that the tripod head is held at a higher angled position so that it will stand higher than the normal tripods.
You would therefore have a Martian battle group of two normal tripods and an overlord tripod.

I am also investigating the use of magnets so that you can remove legs and tentacles for easier storage.

Earlier this year someone purchased three tripods through Eureka miniatures and I would like to contact them to get some feedback on their construction etc.  Unfortunately Eureka have lost the contact details of the person who bought them and I hope they are on this forum. If you are, can you please PM me?

I will post pictures of the new additions as soon as I have them.

Cheers
Fuzzy.
Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly
down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red
Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture,
torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals.

Hoping 3 Tripods will sew you up another Games day? Or just planning a way to finally out shoot the Prussians?

Ah cool. But just to be sure, it isn't available yet, right? I wanted to order this baby as soon as it was available 8). Any price indication?

Initial pricing on the tripod is $100 AUD. I am looking at ways to cut down casting costs so It may end up a bit cheaper. No idea on pricing of cylinder, martians etc.  Civilians will probably be the usual 28mm eureka price $2.40 AUD each I think.
Keep an eye out on TMP for official release.

Cheers
Fuzzy.

P.S. If anyone has a particular edwardian civilian they would like i.e. you have an image that you can email me, I will try and replicate it.

Pretty much any of these but particularly the footmen (far left) and a butler like the gentleman in the centre.

So many projects..... so little time.......

I fancy:
.- some postmen: one with bicycle (separate) the other on foot
.- drivers and passengers (and a couple of vehicles and motorcycles) male and female, plus the person with the red flag
.- a horse mounted policeman (maybe also some policeman on bike)
.- shopkeepers and streetvendors with their paraphernalia
.- ladies and gentlemen "hunting the fox"
.- various types of "Belle Epoque" civilians -that is the term in French- including ladies with their fancy dresses, painters, cancan dancers, french thugs, secretaries with typewriting machine, kids etc
.- last: some military types: royalties, guard units, highlanders in glengarries,

I was thinking of the Horsell Common scene in WOTW. So a semi rural area.
Some ideas I had

Reporter/Observer ( looking like Mr Wells himself)
Astromer and flag waving party
A couple of curious navvies
local butcher (still wearing apron)
A group of young scallywags (kids)
Local publican
Local bobby
Local curate/pastor brandishing cross to cast out the devil!
plus various curious civilians having a day out to see what all the fuss was down at the common :)

I do like the postman idea.

I may do some carraiges or bicycles. No motor vehicles. This is the 1900.
Not sure whether to do them in normal poses or terrified running away pose.

Cheers
Fuzzy.

If you're doing Edwardian, you've got to do Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie as Jeeves & Wooster

"Old Bean, you look distinctly haggard, what's wrong?"
"Well, a giant metal thingy just smashed the Drones Club"
"Steady on!  That's not Cricket!"
Remember, remember, the Dalek December
With Paris in ruins and London in ember
In times of the future when fears are abating
Don’t try to forget them, the Daleks are waiting
Quietly planning and scheming and hating…

What about a good old fashioned recruiting sergeant or two? Pace stick included of course.
