Compatability of TAG Cossacks to Foundry SYW Cossacks

I hear that the two are pretty compatible in size. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The Foundry ones are bigger. Stylewise they go well together though. I can take some comparison pics of unpainted figures tomorrow if you want.

Thanks,  that would be helpful although I think I'm pretty committed to getting a bunch of their figures. I've had this burgeoning of interest in the period recently,

They are all great figures. Unless you're anal about size differences, I wouldn't hesitate (and didn't).

I got some from Old Glory too, which aren't too bad for the specialties, like the dancing ones or the artillery crew. The character on the palanquin is quite nifty. Got a 'rgular' pack with axes too and they're okay sculptingwise, but have some dynamic OG posing.

I am anal about size differences, but I really like both the TAG cossacks (by Nick Collier) and the Foundry Cossacks (by the sainted Mark Copplestone). Style-wise, they are a jolly good match, with both sculptors having captured that raffish, colourful bandit character really well.

Unfortunately, TAG's design brief for their entire Renaissance range is deliberately at the small end of the 28mm spectrum, whereas Copplestone's stuff has always veered towards 'heroic' 28mm - although probably less so in his Foundry days. You won't notice too much difference between the cavalry, but the TAG foot figures will look small beside the Foundry foot figures.

But two great ranges  :)

I spent the better part of today looking for the horses to go with the Foundry ones and I think I found them. No more time for pics unfortunately, so if it can wait til next weekend...  ???

No worries. I won some Polish Cossacks on Ebay so I should have an in hand comparison available in a few days.

Thanks

I too am quite anal about such things, but I just glued a thin piece of sheet styene between the miniature's base and the plastic base. This only pushes them up by less than 2mm but I feel like it works quite nicely.

Yes, I double-mount my TAG ECW figures onto a 20mm washer atop a 25mm washer, and that pretty much eradicates any height / size difference as far as they eye is concerned. And that's alongside 'heroic' 28mm scaled Bicorne and Renegade figures.
