hey all!

Here for our viewing enjoyment, are some adequately painted Quar.  We always want more.

First up: The Coftyrans have pulled ahead in the arms race on my hobby desk as they now have an Actual MMG

I've also added some Coftryan Rhyflers.

On these dudes, I tried to do the thing were instead up just one color of the splotch, I did an outline in one darker or lighter color with a different one in the middle.  It came out OK I think.

and lastly, I got the whole collection together for a party in the storage tub.

not to shabby.  now have a total of 77 Quar.  I only had 18 a few months ago...

if interested in more pics and stupid jokes, can always click the link for the blog:

Thanks!

I’m slowly becoming more and more tempted  :-* . Thank you for the rules dissection I was about to ask if someone could give me a good example of gameplay: so I’m going to sit and go through your post and the linked videos now. Maybe I need to find someone with 15mm Quar they need to offload. My biggest issue so far has been the fact it’s a whole world and has its own terminology and language (which has made brief dips into it slightly clunky for me) - what do I need to read to best understand the setting?

Thanks (apologies if I asked obvious or previously asked questions)

Thank you UVS! Apologies for the basic ask but I figured asking would be quicker  (I’d found the rulebooks) the world of Alwyd is exactly what I needed. I’m even tempted to buy a few sprues of the 28mms (even though I’d normally choose 15mm - not as easy to obtain sadly) just to enjoy painting them.

UMS is right on with the links.   Beneath; don’t let the world intimate you, though I do know what you mean.  I feel the same way about Naps.
If it helps; no one takes it too seriously and the vocabulary becomes more familiar over time.  The book Western Iron is also full of fun fluff. And if in the states Gator games I think sells half boxes.

Manic; thanks a lot.  Everyone is looking forward to Fidwog.  They look cool.  I’m going to be focusing on Crusaders and Coftyrans as I gear up for larger battles.  But I do have some of the partisans as it turns out.  😀

Thanks again anyone who is reading and enjoying this thread.  😀

Thank you Stew. I was struggling (and I know it was probably the morphine making it harder lol ), I read through the World page after UVS’s suggestion (again don’t know how I’d missed it) and it helped a little but I’d also missed the fact that there’s an intro in the Rhyflers PB (downloaded but only flicked through) and that was what I was looking for.

The scale and setting are excellent and the game looks right up my street so I’ve mentally added it to my crimbo list (the starter isn’t expensive just more than I can spare currently) and intend to raid my sofa’s unfathomable depths for loose change to buy a few sprues to tide me over and generate motivation. I’m struggling generally with my hobby and functionality and this may be exactly the thing to keep me afloat.

Thank you both, much appreciated,

Andrew

Hello Quar Fans,
There's at least a couple of us on this forum, but I'm assuming that we speak for the silent masses!

My Quar's War project continues with some terrain that I's like to share:

First up; some Quar Trees:

It's not like alien trees, but lots of the artwork in the Quar books features what I call F,O.U.Cs.  that's Flora Of Unusual Colors.
Trees are easy enough to make, so I made some in reds and pinks / purples.

The idea is not to have whole forests of these, but more like accent trees, like hair highlights.  Just something to give the table a little 'alternate' feel.

Also: I've made progress on my This Quar's War Trench Terrain Board (don't try to say that 5 times fast, it'll tie the tongue).

on the last 2x4 board I've completed the planking:

All 3 of the boards together will look something like this as a 4x6 table.

It's a slow project.  I kinda thought I would of finsihed it by November but now looking like next year.  Good thing there's not really a deadline.

If interested, there are a few more pics and lame jokes on the blog

That is looking amazing Stew, the board is just awesome and the colour of the trees matches the setting perfectly (in my head). You may have started (shoved) me down a rabbit hole  :D I have 6 of each faction that I’m working on - models are great just wish there was more clutter/pouches on the sprues.

Thank you

Thank you guys.

Sorry to shove you down a rabbit hole.  If it makes it any better, I came down here willingly, fool that I am.

Though it is kinda nice down here.  😀

Some game pics coming up soon!

Hi everyone.

I'd like to share some in game pics.  I was lucky enough to pull off something of a "Quar Weekend" where I had two games two days in a row.

First I hosted a game at a small local convention.

here is a pic of the set up.

some in game pics:

And then the next day, I had some new friends over, people that I recently met that like Quar as much as I do.
The set up in my house:

some in game pics:

Both games were 2vs2 affairs held on a 3x4 table.  Each player had 300 points.  I'm starting to really did that set up for multiplayer games, though it kinda just works like two 1vs1 games playing side by side.

Thanks Andrew.
The trees do a lot of work adding done Quar-ness to the battlefield but some more unique items would also be helpful.  I kinda got an idea of a barn / farm scene to work on.  😀
