Nice, look forward to what Day 4 brings on.

Good to see one of your fen beasts, those models are really evocative of the idea and you did a really good job on bringing the idea to the table with them

I worked some variant & expanded rules for PCs with different body types, etc. via Andrea's Patreon https://www.patreon.com/posts/98279110

Following the battle Maelgwn chooses to send Mari back alone while the party press on to the Farm; unfortunately, within a few hours, they are waylaid by 5 Brigands who encircle the party forcing a fight to the death.

The type and number of foes, plus the battle mode were rolled by dice, all from 3 options- in this case 'fight to the death from the centre of the board' but other 2 options rolled were 'escape to the North East corner from the centre of the board' and 'escape by the Northern edge from the Southern edge of the board'.

The copses of trees were then placed by dealing a 4x4 grid of card - black giving stands of trees, red open ground.

Hopefully this give a good explanation of how some level of randomness is employed.

Day 4 Night -Maelgwn's party sleep well as do the members of the Caravan of Logan Roe.

I want these encounters to generally be a little quicker and simpler than the main storyline so used A Song of Blades and Heroes with the Lone Blades solo rules - it worked quite well.

As this encounter was unfolding Logan had been asked by the villagers to take their taxes to the Farmstead of their Lord. Logan had declined as this would add at least a day to their journey and he was keen to complete his quest.

(Again this was rolled by dice once the 2 potential options were identified - if there were more then it may be necessary to roll 3,4,5 or 6 options as required).

By the time Maelgwn had engaged in battle, Logan's party were setting up camp for the night one days ride from Seaton.

After the first round of engagement all the Brigands had advanced on the party, some more quickly than others.

Maelgwn had raised a Fenbeast which killed one Brigand, as did Uti with his bow whilst Lain failed to move into a combat.

Two more Brigands are killed in the second action, one by Lain supported by the Fenbeast, another by Uti with another shot.

Unfortunately the remaining Brigand reaches Maelgwn and takes him out of action, ending the spell of the Fenbeast as well.

In turn he is shot at by Uti and attacked with Lain's Glaive, both to no effect beyond driving him back a little.

In the next round of combat Lain easily kills the remaining Brigand.

Checking on Maelgwn (passes his Q check with 3 successes) he is less hurt than they thought and will be fully recovered after a night's rest.
