Hello there !
I painted the minis from Mantic Games : Star Saga. Those are plastic miniatures for boardgames. Not the greatest ones but definitely not the worst, the sculpting is good, even if the plastic doesn't express its full potential.
I decided to apply a simple yet
efficient technique : slapchop. Based in black, drybrush grey, zenithal drybrush light gray and I then lined in white the zones I really wanted to pop out. I didn't wanted to make a third drybrush. I lost time but obtained more control over the zones I wanted to draw attention on.
Second step was tu use the various Speedpaints / contrast / vallejo xpress I have to get a bunch of nice colours on those scifi folks. the only exceptions are : the white armors, the skin of the tentacle creature and the skin of the mutants (that I hard drybrushed in flesh before using diluted green speedpaint).
Third step was painting the bases. I first tried to make very bright lines on a blakc basecoat but... using mask tape wasn't convincing (and time consuming). I changed my mind and use stippling with grey, brown-red and orange to (try to) simulate old partly rusted complex floor.
Last step : finding my bases not so convincing, empty, I decided to add some details. I printed on paper some hazard and lab signs, glue them on the bases (often after bending them). The final touch was "battle damages" using blister foam with dark brown and putting light silver on the sign I considered to be metal panels. Ok, the real final touch was adding some blood with Tamya X-27 clear red...
