Looks great, Ah yes a particle board base does make stabbing balsa into it a might tricky. You countered well enough and it looks good so far. Good thing the glue was a bit tacky as just pva would have resulted in your vertical supports being horizontal!

Part V finds us finishing the trenches and adding debris that has been ejected from the shell holes,  and, finally another coat of paint to bind it all together

You can follow the progress here   https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/06/trenches-for-quar-part-v-debris-and.html

These trenches look fantastic, great idea to have that bombed out structure in the middle of the 2 trenches. It could be used as a listening-observation post by either side.

This project is rapidly closing in on the final stage! I added another coat of paint into which I sprinkled coarse sand. After that was dry is was a course of two rounds of successively drybrushing lighter shades over the whole surface. Once that was set I added some areas of turf.  You can follow the action here;  https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/06/trenches-for-quar-part-vi-final-texture.html

This terrain looks amazing  :-* I don’t know about the Quar but these trenches would look great with Great War Miniatures WW1 figures fighting over them  :)

Do you have to make all the sandbags? Can’t you use the Renedra ones?

I have begun the GREAT TEDIUM, sandbagging the trenchworks. I make my own because it would be wildly expensive to buy commercial products and I have never cared for the stiffness of plastic or resin sandbags.
You can watch the madness here:  https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/06/trenches-for-quar-part-vii-sandbagging.html

The quality here is stunning. Those are big boards - hope you have some good storage solutions or a wife/husband/partner who is ok with these taking up some of the living space  lol

Just add some hooks on the back and hang them on the walls, like paintings. They’re interesting to look at, even when they’re not in use for gaming.

Well, it took nearly thirty-five hours of work but I am finally finished with the sandbags on this project.  It will be quite a while before I repeat anything like this. I do have to say that I am quite satisfied with the look of things at this point.   Close-ups can be found here:   https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/06/trenches-for-quar-part-viii-end-of.html

The commission asked for some shell-shattered woods as scatter terrain. As I have scratchbuilt everything else in this project I decided to build the trees myself. Step-by-step can be found here :  https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/06/trenches-for-quar-part-ix-shattered.html

Since my last post I have created barbed wire entanglements to add to No Quar's Land between the trenches

You can find the step-by-step here https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/07/trenches-for-quar-part-x-barbed-wire.html
