Got a PDF as soon as it appeared on Wargames Vault as I was looking forward to this

Great stuff but ... I should have had more patience because the Hardback for £20 (a steal) appeared a day or two later - that'll teach me
No dear, they are not toys, they are models

I haven't quite hit the "buy" button yet, but I was wondering how well it would port to a modern setting. I have no 16th/17th humans, and no great desire to paint up some just for the game.

Would it work in a modern setting (pistols and rifles only, no machine guns), or is it very firmly attached to the 16th/17th century?

While I want to say 'Give it a go, it'll be fine', the game is firmly rooted in the 16th/17th centuries. The character creation, equipment, scenarios and monster profiles are all based on historical attitudes and beliefs from the time.

If you mean modern in the style of the Hammer Horror films I think yes. The game takes place at night, so effectively a gun is a gun is a gun. Modern weapons don't need reloading after each shot, but bullets are much smaller nowadays. Perhaps allow multiple shots (you need to track ammunition), but with a -1 damage modifier.

If you really want a modern setting, I'd recommend When Nightmares Come from Osprey. But why not paint up a couple of dozen figures for a new period? lol

Will there be rules for mounted figures,  e.g. the Headless Horseman?

Ordered! Maybe this will bring me back to my local 30YW project about the Wählige Rott. It sounds very promising.

There are no rules for mounted figures, but as the monsters can be easily created, you could just increase a monster's movement.

As the rules are 16th-17th century, there is no pre-existing headless horseman moster profile.  :)

As I like my skirmish games and have dabbled in Pikemans Lament, I'm going to give this a go. My Pulp waterfront and Deep Ones may have to make an appearance though.
