Mellal's fantasy Workshop
« on: August 12, 2024, 05:21:46 PM »
First Time I'm posting some fantasy minis here...

I hadn't finished one for a long time, lost beetween science fiction and history.

Here are 4 undeads I've painted to play Deth Wizards, a game where you play a necromancer that raise deads to build its warband and kill all the remaining living souls that foulishly stand in his way...

My archetype was the War Reaper and, even though mine isn't wielding a scythe, I though the bright heavy armour was more important so I chose a -no at all Vampire- mini from Reaper Bones that I had.

To follow him, I recruited a banshee, a Revenant and a skeleton, all three coming from the dungeon Saga board game (1st edition).

They will join the undead I painted before them, an Orc Zombie. I just need to make its base a little more bluish...

Great stuff Melal! I love the orc zombie and your Deth wizards expression is excellent. I don’t know about the rules but a suitably large sword (maybe called “something scythe”) is definitely an appropriate proxy.

Hello all,

I finished a stone golem standard bearer. 4 years after painting its body and its buddies...

Nice work at the golems! They are original dwarves getting used as golems, aren't they? Which models are you using for them?

Thank you both.

I thought about them as really high level handcraft by dwarven priests. The models are from Mom Miniaturas (physical, not STL). They also exists in Chaos dwarves versions but sadly without chief/banner/musician.

I'm now back to Frostgrave painting with the few creatures from the bestiary still unpaintied. First are the wolves and the snow panther.

Thanks.

As englihs in not my native language (and I like to understand), could you prephrase your second sentance for me please ?

Here are the next ones : Trolls duo and a werewolf. I'm nearly done with the basic bestiary !

I applied more or less the same technique on them. Zenithal undercoat (hite above black), then base coat with my airbrush but it was a bit too heavy so I use some localised shades, a bit of lining on the edges.

These are all great, but that blue-gray troll really stands out to me. Like the ghouls above, I think there's something really striking about the light, almost supernatural, color and the dark bases that creates a great contrast across the whole piece (and of course the smooth transitions and great shading don't hurt at all). Nice job!

Hi Mellal - my second sentence basically means a simple (that is, not too fussy with subtle shading/highlighting), bold but very effective use of paint. You use your highlights and shading very well to give a very strong colour to the miniatures.
