Late Visigoths
« on: September 10, 2024, 08:26:36 PM »
We are thrilled to announce 1898 Miniaturas new range devoted to late Visigoth armies, from the heyday of the kingdom of Toledo under the reign of Leovigild in the mid-late 6th century, to its fall at the battle of Guadalete and the final resistance at Covadonga at the beginning of the 8th century. A range of 28mm miniatures comprehensively documented from historical sources, archaeology and experimental archaeology/historical reenactment, designed in 3d and produced in white metal of the highest quality.

The first three codes are already available, consisting of a chieftain plus two packs of armoured warriors, with which to represent a warlord and his noble heartguards: spatarii, wardens or leudes perfectly armored with different types of helmets, chain mail and lamellar armor and armed to the teeth with swords, spears, saxes and axes. They will soon be followed by two other packs of unarmored Visigoths warriors (bucelarii or sayones) and our first character, Pelayo on foot and on horseback, levies with bows and slings and cavalry and new characters. A range designed for collectors and players of Saga and other wargames.

Those faces have such character, stunning

Wonderful stuff guys  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I'll be putting in an order ASAP- as soon as I can justify the postage (I'm in the UK) so maybe after a couple more releases.

I think these miniatures are wonderful. Superb.  8)

They are cracking.
Really inspiring.
They make you want to own them.
They look like they will be an absolute joy to paint.
Hmm...time to consider a Visigoth army for Saga, me thinks.

Wonderful; both the sculpts and the paintjobs!  8)

I'll bookmark these for shoehorning into a project somewhere and somehow... ;)

They look very good.
What else do you have planned? Moorish berbers, Carolingians?

Hello, I'm preparing a more complete size comparison but attach a previous advance here, I hope it's useful!

Our initial intention is to bring out the most complete range of late Visigoths to fill the existing gap in the market, and there is still a long way to go before thinking about new ranges! But indeed, we would love to develop the whole period of the dark ages in the Iberian Peninsula –that involved a lot of peoples/armies!
