I don't have any Perry ECW, but I did buy several packs of Foundry ECW and Thirty Years War figures to use for pirates in the Carribean and for swashbuckling in Europe (still unpainted). I think it's important to recognize that the core period for piracy in the Carribean was from about 1640 to 1680. That was the real "golden age," not the later 1715 to 1725 period when many of the most publicized pirates had their day. ECW and TYW figures should be great for the earlier period.
If you intend to depict the government action by Britain and Spain to rid the Carribean of pirates in the 1680's and 1690's, other figures are more appropriate, including the new Copplestone "Glory of the Sun" line, Dixon "Grand Alliance" "League of Augsberg" and "Louis XIV" lines, and Foundry early Marlburians wearing "informal tricornes" (especially the ones with matchlocks).
