28mm Crusades
« on: September 17, 2024, 08:56:44 PM »
Hi,

Having been watching 7th Son Youtube vids on the Crusades I have crumbled and purchased a few figures to paint up as his work is very inspiring. I'm still not sure about the base sizes he uses I am guessing at 60X40 for the infantry and 60X60 for the cavalry? Also has anyone produced army lists for the first Crusade? Time is limited for me so I need as many shortcuts as possible!

For my source I am using Gods War by Christopher Tyerman which I hope to glean a few scenarios or characters from. If anyone else has covered this period using Hail Caesar rules I would be very interested to see what you have achieved.

Thanks for any hints and tips. Iwill post a pictures once the first unit is complete.

I hosted the battle of Arsuf several times in 2015/2016.  Pics and event documents at the link below:

I found the 3rd Crusade & Arsuf to be a good opportunity to get all of the toys on the table at one time.  Richard vs Saladin in a (mostly) stand up battle - good times.

Ran-I feel for you with the dropped figure boxes, that must gave been awful. The previous years look very very impressive though! Your table was huge, real dedication.

Have also done 3rd Crusade using Hail Caesar - its great fun with two very different opponents.
