am looking at running a Dark Ages campaign using the Expeditionary force from CS Grant’s Programmed Wargames scenarios book as it seems to depict a Viking invasion of England very well. I'll be playing Big battle Ravenfeast.  I’ve seen great examples of people who have played the Recon by force campaign but not much for the other campaign, and it is less detailed than the recon one. I was hoping for ideas or inspiration from anyone who has run this before. The only example I found was this https://web.archive.org/web/20141022060330/http://www.thewargamingaddict.com/the-expeditionary-force-a-solo-wargaming-campaign-for-sharp-practice/

Its my first attempt at a campaign and I have a written draft campaign rules but the part I’m missing is how to create the scenarios? I can pick some random ones from the same book and and perhaps match the terrain, or scenarios from other games, but I don’t really know how to relate these to the overall campaign. The forces are mostly determined by the campaign turns and defenders forces so that part is ok.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

There are games based on Alfred and the Great Heathen Army which might give you ideas. jjWargames. Blogspot might be a good start.
I remember an article about such a campaign by, I think, George Guthrie, a doyen of dark age warfare from before I started wargaming. It may have been titled Guthrum's Army.
