Thank you Radar for the suggestions you make to me. Since the beginning of the post I have obtained from Caliver the rule "Once Upon a Time In The West Country" which I am in the process of translating into French.

For multi-player games, I give each player 4 units, generally about 30–40 figures.  There's one special character added to the force for each unit.  One-on-one games I do with 4–6 units.

Thanks Chat for your explanation, I went to your blog but I didn't find any feedback on this game. Maybe you haven't done any?

I think I'll play with a minimum of twenty figurines both on foot and on horseback, so as not to manage too many figurines.

We play Wars of Relligion and TYW skirmishes with Argad, usually with small group of figures.

However not all people like the simultaneous and RPG-minded system, which works best with a game master.

No, alas I haven't kept up on the blog for awhile.  For some time I've been meaning to poke at Wordpress to see if I can change the format so it reads better on a phone (I didn't have a smartphone when I started it).  Eventually when I actually do that, I'll get back to blogging more regularly.

I have enjoyed running games from 2 players at the club to 10-player multi-table at Huzzah Con.  Have upcoming games at one of the local stores at the end of this month, and returning to Huzzah next May.

Thank you Patrice for telling me about your rule, but above all it is for games with two players and a maximum of thirty figurines (infantrymen and cavalrymen). Too bad Cat I would have liked to see photos of the games you have played and well maybe later.

30 figures would be a low count for the minimum to play a basic starter game.

A unit of Raw quality foot is 12 figures / 8 mounted.  Drilled is 8/6, Veteran is 4/3.  For each unit in your force, you also get 1 additional character figure.  Suggestions for a basic game are 4 units per player, a standard game is 6 units, and a large game is 8 units.

A basic force of 3 Drilled units, 1 Veteran unit, and 4 characters would be 32 figures.  But 4 Raw units and 4 characters would be 52.

As written, the game is for two players.  I've had no problem running multi-player games with 4 units + 4 characters per player.

For large convention games, I run multiple boards starting out with 4 players per board.  As those game progress, players can move from one board to another, but by the time that happens, everyone has been taking casualties and losing units, so there aren't too many units converging on to a single board.

Here's a few photos of a multi-table French and Indian War period game set in Sleepy Hollow:

Again I thank you Cat, as well as for the photos that allow me to see pretty decorations on the game tables.
Would it be possible for you to take a photo of a character card? Because I don't see how to play with playing cards. Sorry for my misunderstanding.

The easiest is just to have a shwer that says what each standard playing card coresponds to
Ace of spades = d12 hero, with pistol
2 of Spades = 8 d8 Musketeers
Etc

I have uploaded pictures of some of my 'character cards' on blank playing cards and some much fancier ones that Clarence Harrison has shared.
Really, all you need to know is which unit the card represents. Anything else (quality dice type, special rules, move distance, weapon details, etc) is optional.
Shuffle the cards, then activate the unit that is drawn

Cat again thank you for sending me pictures of playing cards. The first ones are very nice with the pictures of the characters and especially the value dice.
Now it's my turn to read the rules carefully and make up these playing cards.
A big thank you for guiding me for this game.

Me and my friends are currently playing an ECW campaign based on Ravenfeast rules with a lot of tweaking in terms of house rules and some rules from En garde! in the mix - works like a charm and it's both balanced and fun! You can find the core rules here: http://www.ravenfeast.com/free-downloads.html and if you want I can mail our rosters and special rules, if you want to give it a go.

Yes, the easiest way is to give each player a roster sheet that lists their units an characters and just note which playing card goes with each one.  Use a different suit for each player.

For fancier convention games, I've made up a sheet for each player.  For these, I've added the stats for each unit on their card.  I cut up the sheet and put each one in a card sleeve.  The player also gets an intact copy of the sheet for the whole roster, which includes one space with a short cheat sheet of game information.

There are also Misfire, Reload, and Shuffle cards added to the deck.  If using playing cards, any can be assigned for these.

Here's a sample sheet for a force with 3 units, a leader, and 3 special characters.  With extra room on the sheet, I added a couple of Misfire cards.

Thank you Glenning, for telling me about the rule you play with. I went to see the rule you were kind enough to provide with the address you gave me. As you suggest I would be interested in your lists and your special rules.
