Adobe? But two fires ripped through Tombstone which suggest a lot of wooden buildings - supported by a lot of the photos I've seen. Perhaps after the fires adobe became more common. And likely common in the earliest days.
What is the evidence for "most of the buildings are adobe"? I didn't see a legend on the map. Is it part of additional records?
The famous shootout occurred in between these two fires.
Just saw this and I grew up nearby so have a bit of information. It was a mix of adobe, wood and brick depending on not only how old they were but the means of the people who built them. Most of main street was wood with some adobe before the fire. Adobe buildings still have a fire issue due to the roofing materials and organic matter in the adobe itself. The opera house (Schieffelin Hall) and the Rose Tree museum are two notable adobe buildings that are still standing but there are others. When they rebuilt after the first fire much of it was wood as it was quick and inexpensive compared to the alternatives.
Here is a link for the chamber of commerce history archives. Has some pre-fire photos in the subsections.
