Some Greek inspired terrain and suggestions for 28mm heroic ancient Greeks

Hey all,

been away from this forum for a long while, but we have been working on printing and painting some new scenery inspired by ancient Greece (some photos below) that we have put up for sale and I realised that I haven't got any nice Greek minis to photograph them with!

Can anyone recommend any 28mm ancient Greeks in slightly heroic poses? I have seen 1st Corps and WIP Miniatures have some nice command models, I am also aware of Foundry minis and Victrix. I am not so fussed on the Crusader and Artizan models, they are a little too rank and file for what I am looking for.

I did also look at the ancient minis suppliers thread, but a lot of the images seem to be broken, and a few of the links also seem to be broken, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas I could check out?

The new Greeks from Victrix is probably what you are looking for.  The poses are dynamic and intended more for skirmish than for rank and file.

Yea, I have seen the Victrix models, they do look pretty nice. I don't really want 48 though!

Love it!  Very evocative. 

Even back in the day, the ancients were intrigue by their own history, the ruins in their own back yards, and had a strong sense of what was ancient even to them. 

This fits really well into that idea to me.

Nice insights! Plus, my thinking was, the Greeks did like to fight lots of wars amongst their city states... I imagine more than a few temples and ceremonial buildings got smashed up during those times!

We try to pick stuff that we think could work for multiple settings, especially for terrain (which can take up a LOT of space)

I have a theory that none of these ancient 'ruins' are indeed ruins of existing structures, rather they are the unfinished products of fly-by-night building contractors or even more established builders caught out by a pandemic. They were left as a (largely unheeded) warning by the ancients of the nefarious practices of svengali property developers and shiftless brickies.

My theory draws  from the large numbers of contemporary versions about these parts.

Have you thought of doing some fresher ancient Greek terrain pieces. The current ones are great for more modern times (or fantasy) after a couple of thousand years of weathering and some even appear to have holes in them from guns (or magic). How about some non-destroyed bits or some freshly destroyed bits?
