Trying to take a more proactive and focused grasp on my mountain of shame, and hobby in general, I'm  (attempting) to stick to a single project at a time. Having nearly finished my WW2 Americans (I'm waiting on a base to arrive for my Weird War Walker) I decided to get a headstart on my next project, Bronze Shield and Silver Coin.

Ancients isnt my usual forte, though I understand why people love it. There's a certain grandiose element to these empires written in the sands of time, not to mention the epics that they created. Unfortunately big swathes of dudes wearing sheets, stabbing each other with spears isn't quite my thing, but I do like a good skirmish game. Bronze Shield and Silver Coin seems right up my alley then!

Heres my box-o-stuff for the project. I intend to make two gangs, one greek, one persian, this is to ensure I'll always have an opponent. Admittedly, as mercenary groups I suspect they may not have been as necessarily segregated, but it's easier to work with and more visually distinctive.

Currently I'll be using miniatures from - Warlord Games, Warbanner, Victrix, and Wargames Atlantic.

Wish you a good start into this new project! There should be enough miniatures present for it  :D

In regard to skirmish games, I really fell in love with Ravenfeast. Perhaps you need to adapt the rules a bit to your setting (given that there is something you want to be adapted) but I can imagine that it fits good as well. I don't know Bronze Shield and Silver Coin, have you had a game with it already and can share a bit of your experience with it?

Oh there's nothing to be adapted here, it's merely me playing an ancients game.

Bronze Shield and Silver Coin is a fairly new game. I've not played it yet, but downloaded the rules and had a look. It uses a mixture of dice, alternating activation, a bribery mechanic, cards for battlefield effects and has a campaign in it. Also a solo mode.

I finished assembling both Warbands however.

I look forward to what you do in this space.  What is the number of models the game uses?

8-12 minis aside, or so the rulebook says. That's maximum though. My greeks are a smaller group because they're more expensive, all having heavy shields.

Started on a Peltast yesterday, still need to highlight his tunic and sort his base, but it's looking good!

Looks like fun - do report back when you’ve played the game.  Always enjoy a bit of swords and sandals.

Two pretty much finished peltasts, I need to put basing material on them however.

I'm attempting to do a less rushed paint job and avoiding Contrasts etc.

Finished my first Hoplite.

While I've no doubt the Victrix one's are nicer, Warlord are dirt cheap and I already had a few. My first time freehanding a shield design as well.

Smashed out another two Hoplites while also re-doing the firsts Shield after someone suggested the trident looked more like a Cactus!

I finished my Lochagos and his second.

The Lochagos is a mildly converted Mortal Gods mini, the Second is a Warlord Games plastic mini.

Finally managed to have a game. We did a very standard "Last man standing" battle with zero terrain. The idea here was to just wrap our head around the mechanics. It was good fun! Though, elements didn't come too much to the fore due to us battling in a very standard format. While we plan to have a few more games before I can give it a solid review, I'd say it's definitely worth it if you've a few ancients minis lying around.

Here's my finished Greek Warband and Persian Warband. The Greks are 100% done, but the Persians are WIP.

Sounds interesting, one question though? If playing solo how do you backstab yerself?
 ???
"Wot did you do in the war Grandad?"

"I was with Harry... At The Bridge!"

You just have to be flexible!
