North-West Frontier Perry, Foundry and Artizan
« on: November 29, 2024, 09:17:36 PM »
I've started up my first campaign in a couple of years based in the NW Frontier. I'm using my Foundry Darkest Africa Sikhs and Baluchis, and I need some Indian, Gurkhas cavalry and so on. Will Perry match with them? what about Artizan. I have plenty of figures from both makers but none from either in their NWF ranges.
Thanks
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Hello and welcome to the NWF!

I am reluctant to comment on 'matching' figures, as each person has their own tolerances for what makes a good match.  I will recommend looking at the Mad Guru's excellent Maiwand Day blog https://maiwandday.com/ as he has great photos that include the various figures you ask about.

My own collection includes Perry Miniatures, Old Glory, Castaway Arts and Artizan.  Wargames Atlantic is a great budget-conscious way to expand your collection, especially for Afghan tribesmen. I have a blog post here that shows the various figures in my collection: https://willstoysoldiers.blogspot.com/2018/07/1880-armies-on-parade.html

Will Bailie,

Thanks for your kind words re: my blog, I really appreciate it!

Gray Ghost,

Following up on Will Bailie's link-sharing, here are 2 more specific links to posts I've done featuring figure comparison pics...

This first link is to a post from 2012 covering mostly (but not only) Perry and Empress figures, including both cavalry and infantry:

This second link is from 2019 and covers only infantry figures, but a wider array of manufacturers, including Studio, Perry, Artizan, Empress, Wargames Foundry, Pontoonier and Old Glory:
