Corsec Omni-Stand flight stands - DIY equivalents?
« on: December 01, 2024, 02:45:31 AM »
Hello,

TL;DR - anyone with more knowledge on hardware bits happen to know if these are generic off-the-shelf type things (and if so, what they're called), or if these were proprietary parts that can't be found at a local/online hardware store?

Looking to find a better flight stand solution for my Battlefleet Gothic space ships and some other miniatures, and I sadly discovered too late what seems like an amazing solution in the Corsec Omni-Stand. Corsec apparently went defunct in 2019, so there's no option to buy them anymore. I've attached pics of the basic parts, from the official site which is still up but no longer sells them:

http://www.corseceng.com/blog/2011/7/15/new-product-omni-stand-system.html

Here's a blog post someone did on them with I believe some additional parts they offered, as shown in this blog post and the other post it links to:

As stated, I'm hoping against hope these are simply 'generic' off the shelf parts that one could get off Amazon, another hardware site, or a local store like (here in the US) Ace Hardware, Lowe's, or Home Depot. I believe the bit that would be fitted into the mini is some sort of hollow bolt or screw, but I've no idea what the metal rod/tube with screws on each end is called, or what the individual parts would be called.

Thanks in advance for any leads on the parts that would be needed to replicate this system.

Those look to be some form of threaded rod and insert. You might do well by going to good local hardware store, the one with the old dudes still working there, and asking.

Check out the below post from Andy, the founder of Man Battlestations, who also went through the process of adapting / matching Corsec after the closure.  His focus was on heat setting the bases, but the standard measurements and links are all there.

If my wife asks, I only spent half as much as I wanted to...

Thank you! This looks like about the best resource for figuring out how to replicate them.
