NATO miscellaneous projects - French Alouette III update 8 /11
« on: December 01, 2024, 04:56:25 PM »
Another small project completed. A mix of Airfix and Esci Miniatures. The pilots are a mix of RAF, USAF and Luftwaffe. I could not resist painting some of the ground crews in aircraft carrier jackets.

Nicely done Matt!
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

Completed another random piece this week, a 1/72 Heller Alouette iii, I will be using this in my Cold War scenarios. The instructions were vague, however with images from the net I was able to work out where parts were located. As the kit was old the decals were salvaged with clear gloss, then carefully handled, one piece did not make it so I painted in the lines myself. I also added two pilots from the Elhiem range. Overall quite happy with my results

Cheers
Matt

Very nice.

Long ago I was happy to sit in one of these (not Gendarmerie, but French Army “ALAT“) a couple of hours for an artillery observer training near Paris.

Excellent Patrice, I am planning a Cold War spetsnaz strike on a French airfield soon.

Yes - quite nice.  Never ridden in one of those.  Hueys and Blackhawks, yes, but that's it for helicopters for me.

I'm not afraid :D I never was on the airfield.
I don't remember exactly but I think the helicopter came to fetch me near the artillery barracks. I think the most important part in the training (?) was that the helicopter pilot/radio and the artillery battery on the ground were able to communicate. I just was (doing one-year compulsory service as reserve officer) in the helicopter to calculate and tell in the radio where the target was supposed to be (no real firing intended) but I wasn't an important part in this.
