I subscribed to Minature Wargames and WSS for a good few years. I've cut that down to just WSS. The production quality of WSS is much higher -  photography, layout, design, paper quality all better then MW.

WI is more like WSS in production quality. Not sure why I haven't subbed to it... probably because two magazines was already too many  lol

MW has more sci-fi and fantasy content than WSS. Both of those in WSS tend to be limited to reviews and "lets plays".

However, the scenario and history-led approach in WSS makes the articles great to read in my opinion, regardless of genre. After all a scenario is a scenario, the actual ruleset doesn't matter all that much unless playing super-crunchy (i.e. overcomplicated) games like WH40K.

I prefer WSS to all of them, but gave up my subs a long time ago. Too much physical stuff…

I stopped getting paper copies of the magazines a number of years ago.

Now I check them out at the Henry Walton Smith Memorial Library (though the occasional issue - probably with a sprue on the cover - does get bought).

Not sure if this is a good time to mention it but you can now get a 12 month physical subscription to MWBG for just under £10, at least in the UK. Too good to miss, I’d have thought, assuming it’s applicable in your country.

Where would one find that deal? Struggling to find it, otherwise I'd happily snap that up!

The deal runs to the end of January, so plenty of time. The direct debit goes up to £56.99 after 1 year.

I subscribed, although I'm not a fan of direct debit, as the lure of free sprues was too great :)

Thanks for the heads up on that - at less than a £1 per issue, has to be worth a look.
