What I painted in December 2024
« on: December 04, 2024, 02:07:53 AM »

I made some floating droids from materials I picked up for cheap at the local craft store. Although it may not appear like it at first, there WAS actually some painting on these!  lol

So, what did I make them out of...? Here is a pic of the all the materials (er, except the 20mm MDF base near the top of the figure. I forgot to dig some of those out and put them in the post-construction, "here are all the materials" shot).  lol

This photo shows the droids "floating" above the base. For more pics and discussion on how I did everything (AND what held me up for a month racking my brain...), check out my post on my Lead Legionaries blog:

Very nice construct.
I like (especially) the gems on top.

Completely agree, that’s some very cool scratch building!

I primed these in November, but did most of the painting in December - zombies for my Last of Us inspired post-apoc horde. They’re Zombicide figs, a little tall and skinny and the details on some are a bit shallow, but they paint up well.

3D printed Dark Anakin I painted for a friend.

The cloak was painted using Reapers black glaze over brown method for a warm black. In person you can see the brown tone pulling through in the highlight. In pictures not so much.
Painted:  2024: 345; 2023: 37; 2022: 56

Very nice, I must try for a 'warm black'.

Do like the flora.  ;)

While at a loss at what to paint next, I pulled out this batch of seven Mega Miniatures modern civilians. Although I fully realize Mega Minis is towards the bottom end of sculpting quality, I like how they turned out in general.

Two of my favorites are the jogger and the little girl (selling cookies?). To read more about my take on these figures (and see more pics), and how I came to paint up such a random batch, check out my Lead Legionaries blog:

@dwbullock - I thought the base with two bottles on it (top middle) was a bottle and chopped off arm and hand holding it!

(You may find it better to post jpg here tbh - iPhone camera format to most compatible IIRC).

Yeah, that's an oopsie.  Tried posting from my phone.  It's an Android, so not sure why it wasn't a jpeg.  And these are all for some goblin pirates I have, so maybe I will paint one with an arm holding a bottle :)

Added another box of Gnolls to turn my mixed bag of 5 leagues Gnawlings enemies into a full force.  Here’s the leadership group.

Thanks for the reminder and bump on this thread...! I forgot to post a pic of my Rebel Alliance figs here...!

The robot Legionaire and kneeling woman are both from Hydra Miniatures. The orangutan with gun and the robed desert looking guy are from Battle Valor Games. The helmeted man is from the Stargrave crew set.
