[SPOILERS] Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
« on: 04 December 2024, 10:50:02 AM »
Apologies if I missed an existing thread on this!

So, who’s caught the first two episodes?

The general vibe among my friends is that it’s “The Goonies in space” (meant as a compliment). Even though it focuses on a younger cast, the characters are likable, and the visuals are engaging—I especially enjoyed the Star Wars spin on a Tortuga-like setting and noticed the droid had a peg leg too.

I’m also curious about the planet At Attin. It has that classic Star Wars feel, but it wouldn’t be out of place in the (Trek) Federation either.

haven't watched it yet, but is that a junior Max Rebo in the trailer? They've given up on them just been legs then?

He is one of the main characters, but his parents and three siblings appear as well. Lovely production and fun to watch. My wife asked what I was watching and I replied "The Goonies" without knowing others felt or said the same!  lol

On Disney +. I don't have that so will not be watching it as with all the other Star Wars programs on Disney.

Just watched it on Stremio. Totally awesome. Very nicely done without too many useless fan service winks.

Great fun, really enjoyable opening two episodes, so much to see going on at the space port. Anyone else twig the name of the droid; SM33?  ;) lol

Ok, watched episode 3 this morning. I'm still finding it to be light-hearted fun and it still has that Goonies vibe to it.

Pleased to see the X-Wings and the fan service to ships guns.

Loving Jude Law in it - why hasn't he been in Star Wars before?!?

Not at the time, but the Mrs twigged it. A pirate droid - who would've thought it?

Episode three was fun, but the 30 min run time is tedious, I feel
Cheated that my enjoyment of the story is continually being cut short lol

I'm mostly enjoying it so far, more than I'd expected from the trailer.

There were some good bits in episode three, but it seemed odd that the fuel pipe couldn't be disconnected from inside the ship ???.

The short episode length definitely didn't help, but variable length episodes seems to be a thing with streaming services. I suppose, when there's no schedule to keep to...

Forgot to update this yesterday.

I wish these episodes were longer!

Highlights for me:
- Seeing the Eopie, the trusty beasts of burden seen throughout the Star Wars universe.
- The Hattan tank resembles the Separatist Armored Assault Tank from the Clone Wars, which is a cool nod.
- I enjoyed spotting bits of Imperial equipment being used by both the Hattan and Troik forces.

I think Disney in general has gone way too far to the left. Boys are :stupid"; girls are always smarter than boys; girls are fierce warriors; boys are wimpy and scared all the time; etc. The graphics are great. The story line is weak, but I will continue to watch it...
