In the case of USS Oregon, at least, pre-war she had a white hull with all superstructure, turrets, funnels, etc. painted buff. Funnels were black topped and 'crowsnests' were white. All decks were natural wood. Under the hull was the usual red. During the war, she was repainted in gray while post war she reverted to the white/buff scheme, although this time her turrets and mounts were also white.
