15mm Cubans, Spanish, South Americans, 1840's
« on: December 13, 2024, 03:52:32 PM »
Hi guys,

15mm Spanish, Cuban, Caribbean troops, irregular militia, etc, figs that would work for smugglers, provincial forces, and interesting bad guys suitable for Florida during the First and Second Seminole Wars (think Spanish garrison, Cuban gun runners, like in "Distant Drums".

SAW figs are not appropriate, and Those huge South American armies are too 1860s looking I think.   Pirates, are too "Puffy shirt and pantaloon" looking as well.

There's gotta be something that works?  Anything with muzzleloaders, so even earlier genres could work if they don't have stupid tricorns, mitre caps or shakos, I guess?  Hoping someone here knows something.

You could look at Texas Revolution/Alamo figures. That is exactly the time period you are looking for.

(Apologies if I’m off target as I’m not massively au fait with the conflict but) I’d recommend searching through Peter Pigs website whilst keeping in mind that Martin does separate heads so you can get them looking exactly how you like (AWI militia with head swaps? Maybe some earlier ACW?). It’s a bit of a fiddle but relatively quick and easy once you get into it (I’ve done hundreds) and allows you to make some really unique figures.

What about figures for the South American Liberation Wars?  I'm sure there was a company who produced them in 15mm ( Grenadier Productions??), but unsure if still available. I guess some Peninsular War Spanish irregulars might also have some useful figures.

Have you had a look through Khurasan's historical ranges?  Might be some useful figures: https://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/historicalindex.html. Or maybe Eureka has something in one of their 15 or 18 mm ranges?  QRF perhaps?

The Koori from QRF - link to buy first and photo second.  If useful for your plans.  Not a great photo but it does show them.

Maybe take a look at 'Don't throw a one' blog.
Ray has been doing the Haitian revolution in 15mm. Likely you would pick up some tips.

Ok, Battle Valor has a superb line of 15mms, mostly fantasy, but loaded with goodies.   Found units of Innsmouth hybrids and farely good "native" cultists (no firearms though).

Getting there.

I believe I can use some Thouroughbred Barbary Pirates too, but their site is down for vacation
