Gangleri in Mordheim
« on: December 14, 2024, 05:20:01 PM »
A friend and I decided to start a Mordheim campaign a few months ago.  I'm not a fast worker, and he is new to the hobby, so it was slow going to get the warbands ready, put a little scenery together, etc.  But here we are.

My friend chose Dwarfs.

These are Highlands miniatures, a wonderful source for alternatives to GW's current range and/or availability.  There was some converting and addition of GW bits.

Chieftain with heavy armor and gromril weapon, slayer, and engineer with 2 pistols. The slayer took his oaths recently and has yet to earn any tattoos but they will be added as the campaign progresses.

Two thunderers with crossbows and shields.

I eventually settled on Reiklanders, but to make things a bit more unusual I imagine them to be the crew of a River Patrol vessel.  This way I got to expand the typical Imperial iconography with lots of aquatic heraldy, , crowns of Manaan, etc. - and of course the ever-popular dead fish.

These are a mix of GW Empire plastics, the wonderful militia set from Reptilian Overlords, and some archers by the delightful Knucklebones Miniatures, with all sorts of odds and ends from other ranges and a fair bit of sculpted/self-built detail.

For instance:

Captain in heavy armor with 2h weapon, swordsman in light armor with sword/duelling pistol

Three archers with longbows

Three warriors with swords and shields.

The crewmen - three warriors with spears.  The proper soldiery are liveried and feather-capped, but these are regular sailors in common clothes.

We recently had our first game, in which my Patrolmen stormed a house in which the Dwarfs were guarding a wyrdstone shard. It was a close-fought match but in the end the Reiklanders chased off the dwarfs despite multiple casualties.

Hope you like this project.  So long for now.
Now what is this whole life of mortals but a sort of comedy, in which the various actors, disguised by various costumes and masks, walk on and play each one his part, until the manager waves them off the stage?

Very nice work. Well equipped for starting warbands so you’ll want new recruits as a priority.

It’s a golden age for Mordheim with all the proxy 3D printed figures now available. Grimforge & Vae Victis are two of my favourites.

Very well done figures! I like the theme of the Reiklanders, it really brings them together.

What a fun little concept for a warband!

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

It starts very nicely, good job on the painting side. No picture of the game itself ?
