Found a source of fanned cobblestone
« on: January 14, 2025, 04:45:55 PM »
Right, I’ve found a decent textured wallpaper that has a 28mm passable fan cobblestone pattern (the larger end of acceptable but works for me:

This was a quick paint job and drybrush and is serviceable with a bit of dressing. This is the original finish:

I found more sandstone colours as well with the same pattern. This was from here: https://wallpapersales.co.uk/acatalog/gb6175-mosaic-berkeley-seriano-wallpaper.html - which did samples for £1.20 and what arrived is A2 folded. So I only painted half of an A4ish after folding as supplied. A roll is £13.

Here: https://www.homeflairdecor.co.uk/berkeley-mosaic-arch-texture-pewter-wallpaper-by-seriano-gb-6174-p2982 - is the beige one which has a nice picture that convinced me the texture was good. But is now out of stock.

I think this works. Sadly I don’t think it will work for me as it’s very European and/or fantasy and I’m more Tudor England at the moment and they don’t quite work. But, anyone doing Three Musketeers, WW2, Frostgrave, etc. I highly recommend it. Even the sample size (if you can stretch out the creases) would be enough for a posh square or plaza.

That’s a great find mate! That would save soooo much time doing big market square style boards.

I like that...might go to my local stores and see if I can find something similar!

That would most certainly work for me, so thanks for sharing. Now to see if there is a local distributor.

By the by, I've used and had some success with this.

https://www.deansart.com.au/embossed-pebble-paper-a4-pe106-charcoal-black

It takes paint well, mine took a base coat, dry brushing and a wash in parts.  Not as thick as wallpaper so dead easy to cut but seems quite robust. Comes in usable A4 sheets.

I've got it glued as the backing to urban mdf terrain squares and removal from and placement back into their storage boxes hasn't created any issues yet.

It comes in a variety of colours. I went with the charcoal but as it was sprayed all over and then drybrushed I'm sure the silver (which isn't really silver) or even the beige would have worked just as well. When I get back I can bung through a photo of what it looks on the board if you like.

That wallpaper would be perfect for doing a large town square, which is on my to do list, so thanks again!
