Vehicle help and recommendations (Heroic 28mmish scale)!
« on: January 18, 2025, 10:12:09 AM »
I wanted to have some options, both for scatter and functional vehicles in a zombie apocalypse style gaming. Cars/ vans/ trucks are not a problem, plenty of 1/43 scale options out there.

The problem (maybe it's just bad search-fu ) are motorcycles, bicycles, atv's, lorries/ articulated lorries and such.

I did find some online railway resources for motorcycles/ bicycles, but they seemed VERY expensive and didn't look like what I was after (more classic 1950's than modern road bikes/ off road etc).

I'm in the UK so if someone could point me in a direction of interest, I'd be much obliged.

Thank you,

Legionnaire.

Eureka Miniatures has bicycles, hidden away in the Pax Limpopo section of the collection:

The Pixar Cars toys included some trucks, such as this one.  They are closer to 1/56 than 1/43 in size, but for oversized vehicles that might not matter as much.  You can sometimes find them cheap at thrift shops.

Siku diecast has a wide range of modern vehicles in a few scales but for brand new you will be paying a premium!  siku.de

Not a site I've used, but https://www.bdpricemodelstoys.co.uk/toy-die-cast/military has some 1/48 trucks and other things.

I have a bunch of 1/48 Motor Zone trucks that I bought years ago. There are some on Amazon UK, so worth a look. I picked up a Poundland branded one in Poundland (what are the odds!). It seems quite fitting to use in a post apoc setting :)

The toy shelf at ASDA is also worth a look, as I have seen quite a few things there that would be useful.

I have some Hotwheels motorcycles and other odds and ends, but they have been grabbed as and when I've spotted them over a number of years.

I can't see Warlord's Project-Z biker sprue on their site, but you can probably find it on ebay

HLBS are always worth a look. Dirt bike and quads. I have some of the dirt bikes and they're great.

I still want them to do a BAOR rider for it (in use in 1987 exercises).

Thank you everyone for the shared tips! I've had a look at your plethora of offerings and I will get a handful of other vehicles (bicycles and motorcycles/ quad bikes are higher up on the priority list).

I am going to have those doing double duty in both Last Days (no cars but bicycles/ motorcycles and horses are possible options) and County Roads Z (vehicles comes in Tiers 1-4, and depending on that it determines how many passengers and how much gear you can load up).

And of course, as scatter in those settings :).

There's an Academy 1/48 Hughes 500 kit that comes with a motorbike. It's packaged as a California Highway Patrol chopper and a Kawasaki 1000 Police bike. The bike by itself is an exquisite little model and given that the chopper and bike retail from between $15 and $19AUD locally, it's worth it for the bike alone. I'm sure you can find some use for the helicopter.

That's a great find and tip! Thank you very much Carlos Marighela! I'm sure a crashed helicopter will look excellent on the table as well.  lol

I have now ordered that kit  :o. £11.99 off Ebay, p&p included so can't argue with that price. I just hope it won't be a very fiddly kit, as I've hardly put any models together, apart from  some plastic/ resin figures.
