Help Finding Bugbears
« on: January 18, 2025, 11:24:02 AM »
Hi All,

Can anyone help me find the company that makes a small range of 28 mil scale bugbears?
I saw them a couple years ago in a short review in one of the big three wargaming magazines. But I can’t remember who made them.
They’re styled after the art in TSR AD&D books and modules from the late 70s and early 80s.
They’re not the early Otherworld minis. Nor are they the current Crooked Dice figs.

Any goto will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Legion

I know Reaper has a few Bugbear options that are really nice.

Dark Fable Miniatures? They had a few sculpted by Kev Adams to add to the original Otherworld ones that they took on. All now available through Dragon Bait Miniatures.

In my experience, you don't go looking for Bugbears, as they usually find you first...  :D

Hayland Terrain had their kickstarter with classic bugbears.  Might fit the bill.

Thanks for all your suggestions, friends.

But none of them are the ones I'm looking for.

The figs I'm after look a lot like the four Crooked Dice ones pictured above, long and lanky, with close fur and stand-out pointy ears.

They're metal. And I'm pretty sure the manufacturer is in the UK. I think they're a small -- and maybe fairly new -- producer.

Satanic Panic Miniatures did a kickstarter a while back for some old school bugbears:

Are they the ones you're thinking of?

While I've got you all here, I've other, related, questions.

Does anyone know who ended up with these -- I'm pretty sure Otherworld -- moulds?
If I'm right about them being Otherworld, they were Humanoid Tribes 6 - Bugbears, with the codes HT6a - through -f.
Is that someone producing these figs? (There are two more for which I can't find images.):
