They're not high fantasy, but they're definitely not historical Romans. They look great.

Chains on the scabbards? Predator style arm bracers? Staff slings and the OTT armour decoration? No, they are definitely fantasy and look great with it!  lol
Oh they do look amazing.
It's just im used to what passes for historical accuracy in films an vedio games when it comes to romans so the standid of "good" is pretty low.

I really like these!

My one suggestion, if you wanted to to pull them even more into the 'historical fantasy' astethic, is to start doing some mix-match armor styles, such as putting on helmets inspired non traditional helmet types - thracian/phrygian types are one of my favorites, and to do some things with scale armor. Scale armor, to me, has a certain 'timelessness' that lends itself better to fantasy. Lorica segmentata is SO decidedly Imperial Roman I feel it's almost too on the nose.

But the quality on the minis as it, is wonderful!

Ah you may have missed the figure in lorica squamata and the one with a lorica hamata coif as well then - I think the designer is going for different armour styles but, yes, it is a very definite 'fantasy imperial roman' look he's going for. I really like the aesthetic he's gone for with these figures - a subtle shift at the moment rather than a blatant ott fantasy makeover and it does seem to work well with these figures.

I did miss him!

I love that squamata guy! I'd love to see more valuations based on that armor, but without an animal skin!

From what I remember, most of the western empire used lorica segmentata for the legions, with some squamata, and lorica hamata for auxiliary troops. The lorica squamata only seems to appear in any numbers in the eastern empire where they used it to a certain extent - but probably mainly auxilia again.
A fantasy version of the classic eastern auxiliary archers with squamata and some variation on their iconic conical helmet would look really cool though!
