Jeb Stuart cavalry charge fig in 28mm?
« on: April 18, 2025, 02:23:15 AM »
Hey all, after my 100th watch of Gettysburg and then seeing Gods and Generals a few times, I was inspired to recreate the first battle of bull run. Stuart's cavalry charge being a notable detail of the battle, and iconic scene for me in the film, I have been trying to locate a nice sculpt of him at the gallop and with sword drawn. I've seen the Perry and Foundry ones, are there any others out there? Any suggestions on a conversion or headswap would be welcome.

I took the plunge on a decent chunk of figs from Sash and Saber as they look very characterful and sturdy sculpts, so I am excited for those.
Any other recommendations for in particular recreating units such as the 1st Virginian Cavalry and Jackson's Brigade?
I've already got a special flag lined up with the Flagdude for a later unit of Stuart's Cavalry :D

20th Maine may have to wait despite being the nearest to my heart, as I think Stuart may be charging some New Yorkers.

Much appreciated. I will go through all of this!

It seems I will likely stick with the Foundry sculpt I have, or at least paint him up for now. Kind of surprised there isn't a gallant charging pose version of him by now after some screentime, but most of the metal ACW sculpts are VERY old (in a good way).

I guess my only other question is which other ranges size up nicely enough with S&S, in case I want to branch out for different regiments? I think I'd still like to add some more sword drawn / command metal cavalry.

Northstar/Crusader have a newish nice range of ACW cavalry, compatible with Perry and Foundry.

I am looking for a JEB Stuart figure as well. Be interested to see your Foundry one once complete.

The perry figure mounted on a galloping horse may work

Here you go, I wasn't really going to call this "complete", but with no planning or direction I threw some paint on him, and more or less entirely ignored the horse, and based him. I think the collar needs some sort of insignia, but I left a lot out for now as I wasn't really feeling the pose.
