Cocktail sticks now thats an idea i have a Sainsburys near me at work i might go for a wander at lunch time.

Here's some piccies to show what i've done so far not much i know but it was the rivet element that is going to take me a long old while.

I need to work out how to put some sort of a ring around the smoke stack which should be fun as me and any modelling putty don't mix :D

@Gamer mac the plastic is pretty hard to be honest i'd say more solid than GW plastic and thanks for the link as well.

@Rob after i have done number 1 i feel i may need another with a big sword so might go full on Samurai looking for that :D

Oh my, these are really looking good!

Would Antenociti's workshop not send you something if you emailed them specifically?

Ahhh, Warlord Titan. I got confused when you said adeptus mechanicus...  ;D

Yeah Jed would sort me out but i just have this feeling that if this goes right it'll be me needing so many more :D

Yeah Warlord Titan buts it from the original box set that GW did.

@ushistoryprof.  Glad your enjoying the piccies mate.

Become who you really are... [/i]

Just to throw in an alternative and cheap method. The silver rivets on the below model are 2mm domed rivets made by drilling a tiny hole and inserting the top end of a pin. The pins are dress making pins bought from sainsbury's.

So many projects..... so little time.......

If you can, have a look in GW's modeling masterclass, they use a similar method to Dewbakuk but use the small balls from a brita filter. Same result though.

Is that the new book from Forge World?
Looks brilliant, but far beyond my price region!

Yeah pins have been suggested before i'm going to sit at lunchtime and see if the epoxy route suggested works for me.  If not i know my wife ahs thousands of pins for her curtain making i'm sure she won't notice :D

Okay I managed to get what 10 minutes at lunchtime to try the epoxy method.  Its fine I'm using a cocktail stick with a bit cut off to the size i sort of want.

The thing is having to turn the stick so any extra epoxy doesn't end up like some think strand across the model.  I've managed to do one side and have the rest of the model left to do.

I'd do piccies but hell its hard to see anything with a light background it'll show up okay once painted I hope.

So it does work then?

Perhaps I'll practise on some spare plasticard...

It's actually a very good book with some proper modeling techniques in it and of course it is full colour glossy. Not bad really for £30 (got my juices flowing)

cheers

Yes it does i did practice on a spare CD i have first so that i got the cocktail stick the right size.

Once i've done it i'll get it undercoated so then people might be able to see it.  Unsure of colour at the moment i'm thinking Blue as its the colous of the period ut i'm also wondering if Khaki might be better..

Sounds good to me...

Maybe I'll get it at salute. Or afterwards. We'll see.

Hi Rob,

I would also recommend the GW Masterclass book.  A great read - loads of eye-candy but also lots and lots of good (and well illustrated) hints and tips.
