Quality on this site.
« on: December 10, 2009, 08:20:09 PM »
Just joined this site for inspiration and I am amazed at the quality out there! I am starting a Chinese army that I will purchase from Copplestone so if anyone has any hints or pitfalls to avoid please let me know. I have lived in SE Asia and I will be putting rules into my games that limit the movement a European can travel due to the heat!
Thanks again-this site is excellent! :-*

Now thatīs clever - brilliant idea! Would you mind if I steal it for use at home?

Thanks for the help chaps-saved the recommended site to my favourites bar-that guy can paint!!! How would you describe his method? Every one of his miniatures looks very neat and well thought out, I will attempt to copy his style and hopes that he takes it as flattery!

Tom is a LAF participant under the name of Mike D McBrice, so you may even get a few first-hand tips!  ;)

Doh! lol
Completing my German army and discovered that Old Glory uk has a character pack with at least one chap who deserves to be in BoB! A german holding a trench broom and pointing...hardly chinese but I think a simple paint job would help.
Completed my caravan of camels over christmas so I will try and take some pics.

I have a Copplestone Chinese army!  :D

You can see a part of my Chinese army in the background, advancing on a group of hapless, stranded archeologists: http://www.lshm.net/wp-content/images/austin020406pic7.JPG

I'm not sure what rules you're using, but be prepared for a lot of painting because this army tends to be big. You also don't get many heavy weapons, but you get several specialist troop types (Dare-to-die troops, SMG-armed assault troops, White Russian bodyguards, bandit/irregular auxilliaries, etc.). If you're like me, you'll be tempted to get them all, but my advice would be to limit the army to only one or two units of these specialists. The strength of the Chinese army is in it's mass. The ordinary infantry and cavalry may not be the best quality of troops, but (depending on the rules) they have good morale and are best used by hurling wave upon wave of them at the enemy.

You might also look to Bob Murch's Pulp figures for Chinese: http://www.pulpfigures.com/
I have found that his figures fit well alongside the Copplestones.
