I'm back from Duxford!

The second day of the history festival was excellent, I met so many lovely people, learnt A LOT and got some cracking photos. Here's Pearl doing her thing:

We even had a shout out from author Clare Mulley, one of my heroes!

And hooray, we did unlock Truus and Hannie in disguise! The sculpts aren't started yet but the plan is have them as two separate minis strolling around town. To add them to your pledge just increase by £8.

Add ons

I wanted to show how well they work as a group, though I don't have them all painted yet, so I got out some of the gang from our existing range. This is some of the SOE, the Women's Home Defence, Josephine Baker and more. You can find them all here. You can add any of this to your pledge, as well as other Jon Hodgson backdrops and anything from the Bad Squiddo collection.

Look how cool they are together. United!

Here's another photo in front of the brand new World War Ruins backdrop by Jon Hodgson, which is part of this campaign too. You can add the A4 version for £20, or the A3 for £40. There's 32 original artworks in each.

The terrain is by Sarissa and built by f4freddieterrafirma

Right I need to go to bed (how most updates end!).

I'll be updating every day as there's so much to tell you.

Remember the colouring sheets are already downloadable, if you colour any in, let us see on any of the social media. You can gettem here.

even if you're not part of the KS, you can still join in with some colouring in, please do share them here if you do any!

Thanks Fred! I feel immensely honoured to be able to do this!

---

Wahoo we unlocked the stickers! I'm having a peep at what else this artwork could go on, as it's so lovely. Everyone who has backed for something physical will have this automatically added to their pledge, and you'll be able to add more.  Thank you Martin Whitmore for this stunning artwork.

What's the next stretch goal?

Every member of the resistance needs a hideout! This curated selection of our massive scenics range makes a little hideout where some people have been growing some food, sending news pigeons and more! There are 26 hand cast resin pieces, all sculpted by Ristul. Supplied unpainted, shown painted here by Pandaemonium Miniatures.

Unlocks at £12,000. To add it to your pledge, increase it by £35.

Jon Hodgson Backdrops

Part of this campaign is the new World War Ruins backdrops by Jon Hodgson. The deal is that we get it first - so not even Jon has it in his shop! It comes in A4 for £20 and A3 for £40. I'm really happy with this evocative photo of Lee Miller, some rocks, and a bit of scale barbed wire.

There's lots more photos across our social media, and will be way more! I've also been enjoying using the other backdrop books (which you can also add on to your pledge) - below is the A3 Skies.

Also our painter John Morris has sent the next few minis so time to get them in some shots!

Anne Margrethe Strømsheim/Bang

Anne was the only woman at the defense of Hegra Fortress in Norway, one of the last places to hold out against the Nazis. Working as a medic, the Germans saw her over the walls running around saving the soldiers, and called her Joan of Arc. She's also known as the "Lotten fra Hegra" The Lotten are a sort of Women's Home Defence organisation which still exists today.

Like so many of the survivors we've researched, Anne dedicated the rest of her life (til 94 years old!) working to make life better for the less fortunate as well as being a voice of the realities of the frontline.

USA SHIPPING

I have ALMOST sorted the USA shipping, but want to go over it one last time in the morning! It's looking like it'll be pretty simple and nice, and possibly, POSSIBLY cost less AND have tracking as standard, so hooray! It also makes the larger pledges with the books have really decent shipping. I've been packing boxes of different pledges levels and weighing and measuring and all that so I can get examples on a variety of different services.

I'm also looking at switching to a duties pre paid for Europe - WHILE I'M AT IT! Which of course requires an entirely different service (I had to have a short lie down at lunch time, it is such a brain melt) but getting there too. So there will be prices super soon for each pledge level, but I can assure it'll be no horrid surprise.

Thank you for bearing with me as I juggle the things, Kickstarters are never boring, that's for sure!

Hey look it's me, with Eva Kløvstad - another Norweigan! LOOK HOW GOOD JOHN PAINTED HER SOCKS!

Just a little post to say

NOW PRE PAID DUTIES AND TRACKED SHIPPING TO EU AND USA! HOORAY!

It's taken days to sort so I haven't had a chance to do more cool stuff with the minis, but I shall be back at it tomorrow now that is sorted!

(This also means USA shipping is back on on the web shop too!)

Thanks giraffe, they're painted by John Morris, who haunts this forum occasionally :D

---

Yesterday I had a prolonged photo shoot to update a bunch of the images on the campaign page now that I have far more in hand that are painted. Thanks again to John Morris who is currently painting day and night to get them all coloured in for you.

Today I've been updating the page and it looks much nicer! Go have a peep and you'll see! I changed the main image to hopefully be more eye catching to new folk scrolling KS too.

I had a really good play with the Backdrops Book too, here's just one with Simone Segouin and one of our lil war dogs.

Simone is one of the more well known people in this campaign, as this photo is very widely known:

Also I totally need to recreate this pic, it's on the list to do!

As a member of the French Resistance, Simone Segouin - codename: Nicole Minet, worked in a whole heap of dangerous situations in her occupied home country. A French newspaper in 1944 said she was “one of the purest fighters of heroic French Resistance who prepared the way for the Liberation”.

Simone lived a long life after the war, working as a pediatric nurse - it's inspiring to see how many of these women looked after people in their post-war lives. There was always something to be done.

UNLOCKED THINGS

We unlocked a bookmark! And we're getting close to Claude Cahun, which means I need to start thinking about how the heck to represent them - they are a person of SO MANY LOOKS. That was their whole thing! I could do an entire Kickstarter of just Claude Cahun (Annie, Annie no calm down)

I like making bookmarks! I just think they're neat! There is a VERY GOOD BOOK on Agent Zo by Clare Mulley, who pretty much made her known. You will see me in a previous update schmoozing with her. She's really cool too, and super passionate about telling these tales.

This is just a mock up, I'd like it to have some red and white for Poland on there, and it's usually not much more cost to have double sided - so shall I put some information about her on there?

ADD ONS

I added more add ons too. You can add ANYTHING from our website by just increasing your pledge amount (you tell us the breakdown afterwards in the pledge manager) but it's nice to see them on the page, especially for those who skim or don't want to pour over the whole catalogue.

I COULD add so many packs but I don't want to make the campaign page too busy, so I have gone for these which can work in most theatres.

These Women's Home Defence are part of our WW2 British range but there's no reason they can't be home defence of other countries - either trained or civilians who have just picked up the thing that is closest. It's why it's such a mish mash - including a Zulu spear!

Shooting with a cup of tea is my favourite, of course.

And here are some un armed, who can also be spies.

And because we all love some cutie critters - it's the Hero Dogs! These are all REAL DOGS! beauty, Smoky and Rip. The two on the flank are blitz dogs - rescuing and detecting people in the rubble, and Smoky is so famous she has many books written about her - The Yorkie Doodle Dandy.

I can't even:

I don't know what I can type that can follow up that image 🥺, so I'll catch you later - thanks again!

There's a video I saw a while back of Smoky's best chum in the war, as an old man visiting the memorial, where it says "Beloved Friend"  :'(
