As promised here's my early christmas present for the gothic horror crowd.

You can get the downloads at the website.

Chaos in Carpathia houserules

Since helping out with playtesting Chaos in Carpathia I had planned to write a number of houserules for our private games with the emphasis on additional warbands and scenarios. You can download both parts of houserules here.

Part 1: Warbands
This part contains a few necessary changes of the main rules. I've kept these changes to a minimum to avoid the need to crossreference between these housrules and the official rules during games. You should not mix the Warband lists in book with the ones given here. It's also recommended to use the new weapon statistics instead of the original ones.

Part 1 contains the following material:
-Changed and new rules.
-Complete new weapon lists.
-Warband lists for: Human Monster Hunters (British, American, French, Hungarian), Heilige Bruderschaft, Gypsies, Romanian Vampire, Nosferatu, Werewolves, Dr. Frankenstein.

Get Part 1 (250kb)

Part 2 contains the following material:
- 5 scenarios (some based on scenarios in the book and some new).
- Victory conditions for scenarios.
- Simple campaign system for Gothic Horror Campaigns.

Get Part 2 (50kb)

Buy the Chaos in Carpathia main rules at Wargames Downloads here

Thanks guys!

Drunkendwarf, you'll actually find that the warband lists are build around the Westwind range mostly. I've not been able to include everything (choirboys amongst others) but you'll find westwind miniatures for any of the warband entries.

I have just purchased the C-in-C rules and these look like excellet add-ons.

Thanks for the time and effort spent :)

Seeking advice from those who have played CIC.  Would you guys recommend playing the original rules and warbands, or perhaps trying Mike's add-on?  Does the add-on maintain game balance?  I certainly like the idea of expanded warbands.  Have you played and tested your add-on Mike?

Thanks,
JET

Of course the lists and scenarios are tested. My intention was to provide a complete set of warbands and scenarios that work for competitive games and that rewards people who play according to the background of their warband/ characters. Some scenarios are in favour to specific warbands. If you play through all 8 scenarios with 2 warbands you should get a pretty even result.

There are a lot of details in the lists and rules in general so it usually needs a few games and some experience to get most out of your warband. Some warbands are easier to handle than others which is in the nature of the subject. Werewolves naturally have a very strong close combat theme whilst hunters offer you a greater choice in fighting style and equipment.

I could write some more pages on the ideas behind the lists but lunch calls. :)

I am definitely supporting Mr.  Mc Brice rules variants. They are even better the the original rules. A lot more balanced and refined.

Thanks Tom
These are great. My only criticism of Chaos in Carpathia was that it ignored the Westwind range.
Is there any chance of some stats for the Vatican Hit Squad?

Mike and Agis,

Thanks for the clarification.  I don't think that it will take much persuasion to get the others to go in that direction.

Thanks John, you can include these in a Bruderschaft warband using the Ordensbruder stats. The Ordensbruder is a very flexible entry and can represent anything from a priest to a warriour. You can even use the Ordensnonnen stats as stand in for a male priest.
Or (just for the looks) put them as a leader without additional abilities in the game into a henchmen group. Henchmen groups don't have leader stats but you can still nominate a leader model just for the looks.

I've not included special stats for them because there is only a limited amount of possible profiles available and every entry should have its individual use on the tabletop.
The game is made for only around 6-8 characters each player so choice is a bit more limited than in the original Gothic Horror rules. (A henchmen group counts as one character usually)

A few characters would be interesting for special szenarios or campaigns where you are more flexibel to invent models.

I'll add a section on figure selection and warband structure and tactics on the website in the future.
