Yep that's a good one. The uniforms etc changed quite a bit because of that war (but only afterwards), so it's fine as reference for late 1800's.
So many projects..... so little time.......

My wife told me in no uncertain terms it was her or my figures.

Sometimes I quite miss her

Like they say the best way to get your own back on a man who steal's your wife is to leave her there ;)

Thanks guys i might look out the Redoubt ones.  Simply because i'm in the UK and they are closer so i pay less in shipping if i do a small order.

We've got a few Redoubt ones for Boxer Rebellion games and they paint up quite nicely.

The Museum Miniatures make good special characters for VSF and are UK based - but if you're checking them out do it before the end of the month to get the 25% discount.

Please be assured that is just a very old joke and not reality.

You mean, you don't miss her?

I think you is heartless. Grr.

If your wife thinks you have too many minis, we all know what to do; hide some of them, and tell her the next lot are the ones they already know about. They are incapable of telling one blob of pewter from another. If they seem to be peering to close, talk excitedly about the mini: "look! I've painted it as a Stellar Federation Heavy Gas Layer from the period between the Gllark Incursion and the Numbumbulous Expedition, you can tell because he has red tinting on his anti-blast visor..." and she will soon retreat. It's exactly the same method girls use to collect shoes.

increasingly deviating OT...
anyway, given Michi's innumerable voluptous and beautifully painted female dollies, I was always wondering what Mrs. Michi would say about that...
 ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Mrs. B. only says that tanks and cannon are phallic...

They don't specifically do VSF, in 28mm they only do samurai, but they are unarmoured and some look ok for VSF character types, perhaps as vehicle crews, commanders, or auxiliaries for the Redoubt Miniature figures.
Alasdair uses some for Urban War SF (as a cut price alternative for Triad retainers).
The rice parcels that the ashigaru wear as a bandolier can be painted up as ammunition (or grenade) pouches. The ashigaru spears can be easily adapted as rockets or assault charges (think dynamite on the end of a stick - bit of a one-shot suicidal weapon, but you did say Japanese VSF)
