Black Tree US Infantry
« on: January 17, 2010, 04:04:31 PM »
Just a quick look at some of my Black Tree Design US Infantry (if you are interested)

This is my normal painting style nowadays - a thin coat of white followed by block colour and a heavy wash of GW Gryphonne Sepia to bring it all together (these washes are great for us tabletop standard painters) before a brush of W+N Galleria Matt Varnish.

Model railway ballast and flock on a bit of Her Majesy's coin of the realm and I'm finished.

If I feel extra virtuous I sometimes go back and add in the eyes and unit badges.

I do like these fgures and BTD always seem to have a sale on which make them very nicely priced

Despite all the horror stories about their service they have always delivered to me - but sometimes in 3/4 weeks rather than the 1 week or less we all expect nowadays

If they could get their act together they would be a leading company

Does anyone know who sculpts for them - or is it in house?
No dear, they are not toys, they are models

I really like these, they're very well painted. The figures look really nice. Do you know how they compare size/scale wise to Bolt Action? I'd be tempted to get some Black Tree Designs minis if they mix well.

Nice work on these... however BTD seem to have sculpted a peak on onto the helmet?  :?

Gibby - they are standard 28mm ish to the eyes

Mix well with Artizan but I have no Bolt Action to set against unfortunately

BTD's US and Russians both have gumdrop shaped helmets for some reason. Otherwise nice figures, and reasonably priced.  I agree, its a shame BTD seems to have ongoing customer service problems.

Bolt Action's Americans are slightly shorter, but they would mix with BTD.

EDIT:  A picture is worth a thousand words.  BTD on left, with helmet net, Bolt Action on the right:

Looks like my memory was off, height is virtually the same.  Proportions are a little different, but real people differ, too.

Replying a little late, that is a good quick clean looking paint job.

How long did it take you to paint them using your technique ?
