While surfing I found some interesting photos (and laso some info on  Chakoten) about the Swedish Army early 1900's

They look very interesting:

I would go for conversions with 18th century Tricorns. You can then games a fictious invasion of Norway 1905. In reality the Swedes mobilised and war could have broken out if the negotioations wouldn´t have been successful.

Yeah Martians could invade, or maybe ice trolls from the arctic lol
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Maybe they could come to Atlantis (in 1890)?

Hint, hint.

It looks like the tricorne is only one of the options. What a lovely shade of blue.

No need for that Norway was part of Sweden until 1904 I think, or sort of ...
-Swedish/Norvegian history is not my high point!

I think this a little later 1905 onwards or so...
In fact my impression was that the swedish army should have worn kepis, pickelhaubes etc. When I saw the tricorns, I really was impressed.

Wow! What fantastic uniforms. Perfect as generic VSF "baddies" (with apologies to all our Swedish "goodies"  ;) )

They have a real "Ruritanian" look to them and would do for any number of fictitious central-European powers.

If only someone would make some in 28mm  :(

Oooh oooh! I was just about to post asking if anyone knew any 'generically central/east European' minis that could be Ruritanians, I find myself *in need* of some... actually, not 'in need' in any real sense, more, 'hey I've just had a great idea...Ruritanians!'.

That was about 6 hours ago. Funny how great minds think alike  ;)

Do You mean Anthony Hope's Ruritania or
Ernest gellner's Ruritania or
perhaps Ruthenia?

and what time-setting? Interwar?

No I really mean Anthony Hope's Ruritania, Prisoner of Zenda, James Mason as Rupert of Hentzau being sinister, and all that. I don't know about Ernest Gellner... except having looked it up on the web, it appears my 8 or 10 times watching the movie (and once watching the 1980s TV re-working) have obliterated some of the 'facts' of Ruritania that I must have gleaned from my one reading... Hope's Ruritania is between Dresden and Prague, and not 'approximately Serbia' as I had imagined.

I was thinking 'circa 1890' as I tend to for VSF. Maybe 1891, it can be next year's project. Maybe even my next VSF campaign setting... disintergrating Balkan State, the Austrians, Russians, Germans, Turks all trying to take over, the British French and Italians throwing their weight around too... difficult to see how the Japanese Navy and Chinese warlords get involved, but I'll have a think.

.... watch this space later in the year for some VSF Turks  ;)
