A little question/request about DSM's GRRM Masterworks

This might sound a bit odd, but I'm trying to figure out how big the miniatures from Dark Swords George R.R. Martin masterworks are scale wise, compared to "ordinaryl" 28mm. history miniatures.

A guy from Miniatureland.de was kind enough to send me a picture, showing some of the taller miniatures to be around 4cms high from foot to top, but i'm still a bit dazed as unfortunately I'm not used to dealing with historical miniatures in any way.

I'm currently looking at Ebob miniatures' Rebellion line, and The Perry Twins War of the roses plastics, but I have a feeling that they are far too small compared to the more fantasy scaled Dark sword miniatures?

Any help is much appreciated!

Comparable but skinnier. Tom Meier doesn't believe in heroic scale.

Hang on there Hammers, while that is true about his own range, I believe the Darkswords George R.R. Martin range is in a larger scale. They simply wouldn't fit with historicals like ebob and perry who are on the smaller side of 28mm.

This thread discusses the scale and has some comparison shots with Darkswords Parkinson range (also by Tom Meier), which is closer to 'non heroic' scale so you can see the difference.

Different strokes, I guess since I personally am not very fickle about a millimeter up or down. I use the Darkswords in my collection interchangeably with most miniatures. The only example I have ready to show is this:



This is perhaps a bad example since they are, left to right, Black Tree, Hasslefree White Metal (Frothers), BT again,  BT, Hf and finally a Darksword by Tom Meier. And a Hasslefree dolly in the middle. These brands are all on the smallish side, so yes Ds may look small next to a Copplestone or Artizan.

Yes, the "regular" Darksword figures are compatible enough sizewise, it's the Song of Ice and Fire range that's larger.

That's unfortunate! Do anyone have suggestions for miniature producers that makes comparably styled miniatures ? Realisticly proportioned and armed?

Well, I haven't seen them together, but you might look into the Mindstalkers range by Manorhouse. They're in the 35-40mm scale range and have realistic proportions. They might be too big though, I wouldn't know.

Nice review... apart from the skinny legs they are almost perfect! I higly doubt they will fit scalewise though... soldiers can be a bit smaller than their heroes, but not the other way around
