Aren't you a bit underfed...?
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:27:57 PM »
Just finished speedpainting the Scrawny Ones for Sunday's first game of Strange Aeons. Here's how I painted them:

-Basecoat with Citadel Foundation Gretchin Green
-Glaze with red and purple inks (head & belly)
-paint the unlucky detective's trousers with Citadel Shadow Grey and his coat with Vallejo Deck Tan.
-Dip with Army Painter Dark Shade.
-Paint the eyes.
-Highlight the clothes and paint the shoes.
-Base.

The Pentagrams were supereasy too:
-Basecoat Vallejo Deck Tan.
-Dip with Army Painter Dark Shade.
-Drybrush with Vallejo Deck Tan.
-Paint the Pentagrams with Tamiya Clear Red + a bit of Vallejo Black.

Done! One hour work in total and they look very cool for gaming. Dipping is really effective for getting miniatures done for gaming without getting bland miniatures without contrast.

Absolutely beautiful work, Mal. Just ordered some, myself. I'm working on a sci-fi Strange Aeons campaign atm, and these sculpts will work just beautifully for that, too.

And I agree, Dipping can produce beautiful results, especially the Army Painter stuff.

Painting the top of the head to match the belly is a great touch.  Brings out a shape in the figures you wouldn't otherwise notice, and gives the head a bloated, distended impression.  Well done!

I have to thoroughly agree with everyone else, great work Mal.

I haven't started mine yet and now i've seen yours, my image of them is hopelessly tainted, i will have to paint them in homage to your scheme, curse your foul schemes! ;)

Those look fantastic!!! They look 'bruised' and rather unwholesome. Great job on the pentagrams as well. Love the blood!!!  ;D :-* ;D :-* ;D

These are totally great! They look very unwholesome (in the best possible sense). I can't get over the one devouring that poor investigator. Awesome! I can't wait to get to work on mine.

The feeding one looks just swell. Good job on both, but the cake goes to Mr. hungry on the right there.

Alright, I'll stop with the lame puns already. They just flow so easily.

Dipping?  :o You utter the worst of old one curses!

;)

Not a fan of dip at all but these do look good for the table, wonder whether you'd just get similar (but more controlled) results with the newer citadel washes and wonderwash?

Good stuff mind, even if cursed...
