Having been part of the research group for these figures, they areas accurate as possible. The British South Africa Company Police still had the Martini-Henry, largely due to the debate over huge, man stopping bullets versus the Lee-Metford way.

I am fortunate enough to have a set of the first four figs, they are really nice and complement the new range of Matabele from the same company.

Despite what has been suggested, the 1893 and 1898 Matabele/Mashona Wars were NOT one-sided affairs and had some great characters involved - Baden-Powell, Selous, etc.

A lovely start to a planned larger range of figures which complements Chris Peers' rules, some surprises and great character figures are on the way

There are more photos of Ndebele warriors on the North Star page now. I rather like them, with their silly little headdresses. But then again I like painting tribesmen with daft things on their heads.

I wish they would show actual photographs of the miniatures though...

They have. I'm talking about pictures of minis, not photos of real tribesmen!  lol

These ones are new. Put up today or yesterday, I think. Certainly new to me. The ones in full regalia haven't got pics yet, but they say they are coming (I guess the chap is frantically painting them as we speak).

Plus hard to keep them in stock, apparently the world and his wife are ordering them, the racks were emptied today and the caster was tasked to create more or suffer the wrath of the Mighty Tebbutt, North Star's enforcer par excellence!

There are now more pictures of the various Ndebele packs on North Star's site. Here's some of them:

Chairface said, of the British minis:  "I have high hopes for these minis, possibly as Boers. "

I don't think they will work for Boers.  I have NEVER seen a photograph of a Boer with his sleeves rolled up.  They were (are?) very formal, God-fearing people.

I would think they did roll sleeves up, one reason you wouldnt see many in photos of the time is that they are posed so they are as you say in their "Sunday" best rather than fighitng in the thick of it

Here you go, Chick! Tis our old pal Eugene Terreblanche, you can hardly get more Boer than him without actually shooting at British people with a Mauser. He even wants to have another Great Trek (to get away from all the horrible Kaffirs running his country rather than the Brits this time), though God only knows where he thinks his tribe will be welcome in Africa.

What a lovely old chap he is.

If his plans fall through, he can always get a job as a Santa Claus every christmas  lol

I'm loving those Ndebele though. They will be on my list for Triples!

I have! Admittedly it was a young guy in a group shot of older Boers who were all in jackets etc but it stood out enough for me to remember it.

Edit: In fact a Google search for "Boers" gives this as the first picture! It's a cut-down version of the photo but the gent in question is in it.

Page 70 of Featherstone's Victorian Colonial Warfare (Africa) shows a photograph of 7 Boer fighters - 4 of which have sleeves rolled up to some degree  - one is even showing his elbow (how religious is that?)

This in my mind dismisses the idea that Boers cuffs were permenantly attached to their wrists and that there is hope for my new buisness venture...."The Arikaaner T Shirt Company"

Good news - the masters for the revolver armed Shangani Patrol are in, new sculpter commisioned for the rest, so the whole process will be a lot more rapid.

To button or not to button, that is the question!
