Squishy Stairs method
« on: February 11, 2010, 11:37:06 PM »
I have decided, after seeing all the World Class level stuff built by LAF posters, that my staircases will forever on be in scale.

But, how to get over that convenient foamboard, 3/16" high steps method?

SQUISH them!  That's right.  For 15mm stairs, I squish each piece (level) of foamboard with my thumb.  Shortens the height to maybe 1/16th" and is perfect for quickly building stairs in 15mm!

It (the squish) remains permanent.  Especially after spackling and painting.

Just a helpful hint to my droogs here   ;)  I can crank out stairways in minutes now!   :D

Thanks Smokey, though I've not understood the 15mm bug yet, too small to get any enjoyment from painting, but not small small enough to field vast armies. But back on topic, I'd love to see what you're doing for 15mm.

It works nicely (the squishy stairs).

Well, this is what I'm doing in 15mm:

(I gamed colonial with 1/72 plastics for years, and 28mm at cons and with our gaming group, but find 15 to be much cheaper for new endeavors, and my 4x8 home table is a lot bigger with 15mm stuff, and I can crank out buildings)

Plus, I gave my 1/72 scale terrain to the chir'ren, and reserved the figures for shelf display and future dioramas.

I'm quite happy with 15mm colonial, as I can branch out to Boxer rebellion, and Darkest Afcrica and Old mexico for little dinero.  And thus have more money to go to the Canes away games, as they cost a fortune (a home game runs about $500 and we have 6 a year  :o  Damn Dolphin Stadium!  You know, the same seats for Dolphins games are cheaper than the Canes seats!  )

And $15 for a cup of draft beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   That is a crime against humanity!  FIFTEEN, ONE FIVE, DOLLARS, not pesos!  That's Amigo money!
