I agree, the Major will be proud.  :)

They seem so 'alive', as if they are about to step out of the screen.

Variety, my friend.  I just like painting figures.   :D  Next photos will "probably" be Gangsters.  Working on WWII Brits, Gothic Horror at the priming stage, GW Empire being painted...

The "new" one appears to have slightly more "contrast", so I'd say it's marginally better.

I like the original better! It might be my monitor, but it washes out some of the shading on the face and other makes other details a bit harsh.

A lovely job, mind you.
