My hangup, for RCW, is that Russian railways are "broad gauge" - or 1524mm vs standard gauge at 1435mm. So HO track is already too narrow in 1/87 scale - all that technical stuff aside, I think HO track just looks too narrow next to a 28mm figure.

Sorry for the resurrection....

I have just been picking up some On30, backwoods and Fleischman stuff for gaming and trawling through posts.

Broad gauge as in Russia and America works out to be 31.75mm in 1/48 pretty close to O gauge track at 32mm, it is 27mm in 1/55 which is almost half way between S and O

O-27 an american gauge is supposed to be 1/64 on O gauge track - broad gauge

If people are doing Africa or Australian post apoc 1m or 3'6" are standard gauge in those locations... so HO does really well in the looks stakes.

Right back to cutting down the cabs on the toy trains to make them look better to my eye. I found drawings of similar locomotives and photocopied them to the right scale (that I want) so will be chopping the cabs down to suit.
