Superhero Concept Bounce-Off
« on: March 08, 2010, 03:23:13 AM »
So I'm nearly finished with my first team for SuperSystem and am starting to look towards a second. I have friends interested in wargaming, but at the present none of them are rushing out to buy a handful of miniatures of their own, you see. I'd like to have enough to go around.

I figured it'd be a fun little exercise to bounce some ideas for new superheroes and/or villains back and forth. I'll start with the team I've already created and a few random ideas I've had rattling around in my head.

  • Fly Trap - Dean Feeny, sanitation worker, toiled on the truck and dump until he discovered that he could exude a rubbery crust from his pores, and could form it into prehensile tentacles and lob entangling balls of crud. As his abilities developed, Dean has come under the suspicion that the substance may have a mind of its own.
  • Lyle Barrow: Investigator of the Universal Subconscious - An hard-bitten journalist in the '50s investigating the antics of the local Triad gang, Lyle was physically transposed into the Universal Subconscious after a particularly hard experience with an opium den and Taoist ritual. After decades of experimentation, Lyle got the hang of projecting a mental image of himself in the presence of sentient minds, as well as the ability to influence them to a limited degree.
  • "Zeke" the extra-dimensional Ron Popeil - Part of a colony of beings living within a cyst on the back of a colossal extra-dimensional creature. "Zeke" was an inventor of biotechnological conveniences for the colony until the discovery of an inorganic power source prompted him to build a traveling device, which summarily zapped him to Earth. Now, with the aid of a skin suit bearing an uncanny likeness of legendary human war hero "Unglez'am", Polypous Pan-dimensional Hat, and a host of living gadgets, "Zeke" seeks to better his new home with his super genius.

A few others, either my buddy's ideas or some half-formed concepts of my own:

  • Some sort of "lucky" hero... Haven't come up with much more other than I'd like to use Hasslefree's "Remy" figure for this: http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=1786
  • Disgruntled army engineer builds his own power armor, proceeds to go nuts. (I just really, really like the US powersuited grunts for the Incursion boardgame)
  • Caver or diver infected with some sort of Lovecraftian parasite, which begins to take him over.
  • "Southern Justice" - Rural Southern redneck cop. Powers named after famous country songs.
Anyhow, I'd like to hear some of you guys' ideas.

Those all sound good. The best thing about super hero is you are only limited by your imagination & available models or your modeling ability.  One of my super heros is Jack Ace, he carries a deck of cards, each one has a different power. I also have a Blackbeard's Ghost based on the old Disney movie.

The figure I use for him is in a formal tuxedo with a super hero hood & mask.
