Tres Bon mon Amis.

I am goi9ng to adda  couple of thatched huts to my town.

am very satisfied that it pleases you. And if it can help you or give you ideas to make your it is still better. But with what you make, I am safe(sure) that the result(profit) will be impeccable. I already look forward to seeing them.  ;)

Very cool!

The roof is made from one of those soft mats you put in the bathroom, right?
Le toit est fait avec un de ces tapis doux qu'on met dans la salle de bain, n'est-ce pas?

And you painted it first with white glue to have the hairs go in the desired direction?

No it is of the fur synthètique. I am well careful to put her(it) in the good direction, then I coat him(her,it) with white glue diluted with a little water and I shape her(it) with a flat brush

Also referred to as 'teddy bear fur' in other threads. I think I've seen it used for grass, too. Nice, but somewhat expensive, material (about £ 35 per meter here in DK).

EDIT:

But it actually looks better than thatch created with old towels the same way!!  :-* :o :)

what ? (about £ 35 per meter here in DK). in france it's between 5 and 10 euros per meter

Interesting, thanks - it seems to be a slightly different kind of fur, though (longer 'hairs')? I remember buying some exactly like the above shown for a fur collar on a costume, and THAT was expensive,

@ duhamel:

Is the last picture how you create the 'ridges' down the roof? It does not incluede any cutting?

If so, I'll probably use this technique on some generic african huts I'm planning to do... soonish....

Yes stop(arrest) them are trained(formed) with the brush by pushing hairs in the inverse sense(direction) (in brush back hairs) there is no cut.

Brilliant use of fake fur!!!!!!  :-*

The house looks fabulous, as usual. . . grrrrrrrrrrr!

I love the wall you made to create a little enclosed area, and love the use of those plastic plants.

Great work, Duhamel! Bravo!! :D

And you did it in only one day?!?!? :o

If it is possible, next time take some pictures during the building, this would be very interesting and useful!

Thanks, Sepoy, for digging this thread out.  ;)

I never saw this one before.  Beautiful!

I'm ready to attempt my first 15mm thatch roofs tonite.  Got the cheapest shop towles, with the thinest fabric, I could find.

Will update on the results :?  The Teddy bear fur at Michaels was not like the stuff used here.   :(

And I walked right by the  "Build a Bear" store (Build your own teddy bear) without thinking   :'(
