And I keep plugging away, even though I am not sure anyone is paying attention. Of course, I keep wondering if shouldn't have the moderator move this to Workbench instead.

Got my first two boards started today - one is going to be a river section over which a bridge will be placed to slope down to the next board, and the second board is a simple one bisected by the road.

I found an excellent way to do raods that look fairly close to asphalt - I took a piece of 3/16 foamcore, cut it to the width I wanted (about 6 inches), ran a roller down the edges to crush them and for a slight slope, like most uncurbed asphalt roads do, and then painted them with a mix of sand, black paint, and elmers glue.

So the next step is going to be to get some fleckstone spray, and give a few good coats to the boards in areas I won't be putting stuff down in, which I will then paint and add static grass and flock, maybe some gravel. I had this crazy idea, and so I am giving it a try.

See those CDs with the tabs taped to them? I used some double sided tape to stick those down, and then I will do all my texturing, I plan on going back after the stuf has set, run a blade around the CD, and lift it off, leaving a flat spot that is clear of stuff. When I build buildings, or brush piles, or whatever, I am going mount them on CDs, and then the will fit into the board better, but still allow me to re-arrange it...and most important to me, allow me to move stuff without it sticking up because it is a flat piece on a textured surface.

And then we have the beginning stages of the river...cut out..

And textured some, using spray paint to melt it as well as a few cuts...

And we keep plugging away.

I am. The rearrangeable cd-terrainsystems sounds clever.

Currently painting: Black Hat Three Musketeers range.

The CD thing is pretty inspired, good call on that!

So please just carry on.  ;)

A cobbled together Sentry Bot

as I had to really stretch to find pieces for it. It

Now, you know as well as i do, that when you use the above words that someone is going to ask....What is the Sentry Bot cobbled from? So you just might as well list the parts out now.  :-)

Don't worry, I'm sure plenty of people are as fascinated as I am. Keep at it and please continue with the pics and descriptions. I've never played Fallout, but I'm sure it's all relevant to other gaming rules/periods etc.

I'm sure it's going to be outstanding when it's finished  :D

And more progress occurs! Beautiful sunny day, so I stayed inside and modeled terrain. o_o

Got the texture on and painted on this board, with CD spaces. This is how she looked with just a base coat

And here I have a hill I made from leftover foam and put on a CD. This bit is actually finished.

And here we have the first view of one of those patches of radioactive mud that are so common. I used wood putty, and dragged the tip of my putty knife through to give it the lines.

And a second one...

And here is the board after drybrushing and some added sand and flock - at this point, it was wet and I had not thrown it off into the yard yet.

And a better look at the road, now with yellow stripe.

And a glance at the finished board, with the few pieces I have finished to go with it - 2 roads, 2 mud pits, and a small hill.

Close-ups of the finished pieces.

And the underside of the long road piece, to show my CD cleverness in action.

And now I move on to the river piece, but I think I will take a break to try and get some more Vault dwellers and scavengers painted.

Count me as another regular watcher of this project.

I have finally started to paint up some of my post-apoc figures over the last few weeks.  I am enjoying watching your project developing so that I can mine it for ideas when I hopefully get around to doing some terrain over the summer.

The table is shaping up nicely.  In particular I am looking ofrward to seeing the finished river.

I think they are heroclix repaints.

I have the one with the pistol upright.  :D

They are Heroclix alright.

The upright gun holding guy is from the first DC set, Hypertime.  Its an Intergang Medic (I think).  The guy second from the left is Mr Terrific from a later set. The middle female is a Science Police I am pretty sure.

3/3 right Cheetor. Several of the HeroClix sculpts are quite useful, only problem is that they are a bit big compared to most 28mm minis..

The scale varies throughout the 'clix range too, even in the same sets.  I find that it really depends on which figures are chosen, even if on average they are a bit large.  There are many Batman sculpts for example, and they vary from too big to quite small and everything in between.

There are some gems in the range, thats for sure.  The original Marvel "Infinity Challenge" Hulk for example is a great sculpt and was dirt cheap for a long time.  I have converted one for use as zombie Tank or Tyrant and I have a few more waiting for their time on the painting table.  Matakishi recently used one for (wait for it...) the Incredible Hulk.

The repainted Vault Dwellers work well here I think.
