Thanks so much! That brings back good memories of a time befor the Empire of Evil ruled the Galaxy - in more civilized times. Okay, while I'm not a GW-basher I really think their old stuff had a lot more character and less power-gaming behind it. Good luck with the project and have fun. Post any battle reports!!!!!

Seconds on the request for battle reports - Binman that link has got the gaming juices flowing!  >:D

I was wondering whether SOBH would be a quick way in to these scenarios too - purely as an amuse bouche before getting my teeth into the old WFB rules of course!  ;)

Were 2nd ed. rules much different to 3rd ed? Bit before my time being a young whippersnapper!

Also talking of skellies and the like I'll have to resurrect (pun intended  lol) my old Citadel skeleton horde - or what's left of it after 15 odd years of being chopped up and hung off orc banners!

I like the way the undead spawn marker has that just coming up out of the ground look.

Awesome! I'm doing McDeath myself! Wanted to use all American mini makers, esp. Red Box and Reaper. Moving along rather nicely, and Tre still seems to be making minis at my subconscious request!
If you need any tips on finding minis, drop me a line!

That's flippin' ace. I LOVE the old 80's elves. So much more, well, Elven!  :)

You've done a great job of painting them up though. Well done!  :D

Wow!
That takes me right back to early days of gaming with WH 1st and 2nd Editions with the scouts wargames club. We spent every saturday for 3-4 years playing WH or WWII tanks - or just about anything really. It was mostly WH though and I loved those campaign packs.
Do you have "Revenge of the Lichemaster" - it was in one of the "Citadel Compendium" volumes and had a card cut out of a monastry and featured a three way fight between the monks, the lichemaster and the skaven set after the events of "Terror"

Kids eh!
I think 2nd ed were probably the best set, (bit controversial perhaps), 3rd ed started to take itself a bit too seriously and had all sorts of rules for formations and changing from one to the other - I remember one game where the two armies just manouvered without a blow be struck - we stuck to 2nd even after 3rd came out.
The format was very different too. 2nd ed had three booklets in a box together with "The Magnificent Svenn"
scenario pitting 7 heroes with a steam boat plus villagers against the Slann set in Lustria. The Slann weren't the Mages we now have but just a breed of lizardmen - well frogmen would be a better term!

V - have you got the "Magnificent Sven" scenario in your list of things to do.

I have a feeling I'm just going to have to dust off the old rules and figures too!

Ooooh, I love those minis. Luckily I have them in some old boxes flying around the attic. And I do remember the 2nd edition of WH very fondly, even though the 1st feels even more homely, so to speak. The nice times before formation rules when you could just slug it out with 10 minis on each side. So much fun...

Masiontaal Monastery and the Magnificent Svenn are all on our list to do.

Whether we get that far who knows... We have 100 odd orcs to do before we get to McDeath, so the joys of Slann are a long way away...

The old figures have so much more personality. I have a load of Norse Dwarves on the go to (for Magnificent Svenn - I couldnt resist painting a few), and they are stunning figures.
