Japanese Steam Walker's
« on: March 09, 2010, 03:22:42 PM »
Okay was hunting through my list of mini's last night and found these.

Was thinking about repainting them for my Japanese VSF force..

Might need to swap out the rocket launcher arm, i think the right arm are flamer's of some sort??

Add a smoke stack as well and should be away..

Yeah, could work easily.  :)

I'd actually give VSF Japanese quite low-tech feeling automata rather than fine tuned ones. Just my opinion though of course!

Actually those are rapid fire guns IIRC perhaps coil guns judging by the shape.

I'd tech em up a bit (watching Gundam, an' all).

I do like those a lot, are they from AT43?

cheers

Go for it, they have a very good basic design that should modify well.

Yes mate they are from the Red Blok range i ahve a lot of the AT-43 stuff from work i've done for R..

I think i'll add a smoke stack and a few extra tubes for steam etc and see how i go..

Only going to do one to start with and see how it goes from there.

My main area of concern would be what goes at the end of the arms. I think that could be the crucial area, and decide if it really has the VSF 'feel'.

Yes thats my concern as well i wonder if i should change them to something else..Very open to suggestions on that as well.

You could consider a spar torpedo....which would explain the heavy armour of the operator. He'd probably be quite keen to survive the blast.

Spar Torpedo now there's an idea so were talking a long pole with the torpedo at the end..

And the box on the end of the left arm could be easily converted to a quick firing pop-pom?

That's an idea i was hinking of putting a Maxim or something there.  I could easyly remove a single barrel with no issue.

These do look like being an excellent project. Perhaps the end of an arm needs something basic and grabby? It's a fine line though before it looks Ork!

I agree on both, a spar torpedo carried in a hand like contraption should look good.

very good idea, that chantyam. Its easy to do and very recognizable. While you’re at it perhaps some of those “horns” that some samurai have on their foreheads? And if your good at freehand you could paint on oni faces, but that might be a bit to much.  :D
