Ah, the poor big sad-eyed tentacled thing being bullied by all those horrid redcoats ... lol
Back from the dead, almost.

Thanks for the great comments!

I tried to follow Wells description as much as possible and decided against having all the tentacles bunched around the mouth as I think in the array I have them now they seem more likely to be able to move. I wanted to give the model a bit of a squidish feel but not too much.

I made the eyes large because I wanted to have fun painting the eyes. I also didn't want to anthropomorphosize the faces too much so they looked more as Wells described, " cold and unsympathetic". I can vagely remember the SST Brain Bug. I'll have to hire the DVD and see if I have subconsciously copied it :)

I will make the mold for the body this weekend and Eureka will be able to cast up the tentacles pretty quick so we can probably release the Martian before the Tripods so people can buy them.

You will probably be able to order the Martian through your local Eureka distributors. I have no idea at this stage how much these will cost.

I am also planning on doing a dead martian (maybe being eaten by dogs or crows!) and a Martian reproducing i.e. budding off a offspring as described in the book.

Watch this space or TMP for official release date.

Cheers

Fuzzy.
Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly
down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red
Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture,
torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals.

Excellent work.
Yet another reason I'll have to be placing an order with Eureka soon.

Thanks
Tom

It looks great, the way the tentacles are placced this model reminds me of the Mickey Mouse story where they adapt War of the Worlds, it is in an old comic book I have at my fathers place.

In the Mickey Mouse version Earthlings and Martians ends up becoming friends after the Martians get a cold  lol

Nice… interesting and tempting too! Should I start considering VSF as a new "period" to paint figures for? ::)
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

What a silly question!  ::)

Of course you should. In fact you should already be researching and putting an order or two together   ;)

Yeah you should, it's great fun once you get started. So many ideas!

That's a really nicelypainted brain bug too! They were a pig to put together, I certainly hope this martian isn't...

I like the idea of a dead martian being picked at by crows. Would make some good scenery... :D

Or a nice objective marker. Steal/reclaim the Martian's brain to extract/preserve all that important information stored in it.

Just listened to the first half of Jeff Wayne's war of the worlds whilst painting.

I am very inspired now...

RELEASE IT! NOW!  :D

I dropped off the tentacles at Eureka yesterday for them to cast. They should have some cast up by the end of the week.

Yesterday I also made the mold for the resin body, so I will start casting tomorrow.

I will then have to assemble one and paint it up nice and purdy and then we can put it on the Eureka website to release it.

So probably two weeks at the most :)

Cheers

Neil
