Reviresco - anywhere else to get?
« on: March 14, 2010, 12:57:17 PM »
For a new project I'm planning to order some stuff from the nice Reviresco's ship-fittings range, but looking at their page I discovered that they charge about 45% of the order value for international orders!  :-[

Is their stuff available anywhere else in Europe? I don't want to be robbed ...

And, btw, are there any other companies for ship guns, fittings and equipment?

Thanks for your help.

I do not know but I do not think that you can find any revirescos in Europe.

However, for guns etc there are some sources:
OldGlory has some guns etc
Eureka also
Pulp, most probably will release some, too.

But I suggest to try the model boats fittings, they have lots and lots of useful bits from guns to vents and from life rafts to anchors. You may even find some modelling shop near you.
I have bought some from the following link, they have an efficient good service, so it reccomended:

That's of course true, and I did that in the past, but mostly their parts are scaled 1/100 or 1/50, and the better quality parts are not really cheap. But thanks for your suggestion anyway, I'll have a look to that shop you linked to.

In order to use lots of fittings is expensive indeed. The scaling is not  true. You can find several fittings that serve you a lot.
But you can use OldGlory's and Eureka's guns and some fittings from the specialised companies.
In case you search the link, search every producer. One has a godd variety and good prices the other has other things. I have bought several of them and now I have some extras to make my fleet.

You can also trySirmar. A bit expensive but has 1/96, 1/72 & 1/48 items. Mostly WW2 but they have some fittings which are of earler vintage that are interesting:
I tried to post you some link but it didn't work today. So, here is another link of a model shop:

Admiral,
some other news!
Surfing round the net, I just found that OG is selling the Houston gunas and crews.
I think that the colonial guns are the ones  I mentioned in the earlier post, but no photo now and so I cannot confirm it.
So, here is the link and maybe later they will place some images in their website.

(I also would like to see those ACW naval crews)

Admiral..

Reviresco (John) does a good portion or our metal casting, and they are only about a 30 minute drive away.  We have a show in May which they will be attending and will have a large booth(Enfilade).

If you send a wish list, I can look into getting some items for you and send them regular post or small packet. I need to get a few things from him pretty soon anyway for some upcoming releases.

Perhaps a trade deal?  I'll get the parts, you make me a gunboat!

Thanks for all your good advice, friends, I found a good german online shop for shipmodellers in the meantime and ordered some stuff there; definitely cheaper than many pieces from our usual miniature sources.

And I have to take back what I said about Reviresco's p&p costs to Germany: John McEwan calculated a very decent amount of p&p for my order and payment through PayPal was without any problems.

So I can heartily recommend odering from Reviresco!

Thanks for your kind offer, Brent, but everything went well. And concerning the gunboat deal: my shipyard is just busy with another job:

What is it with you and boats?!  lol

I'll post picts here in the forum from John's "Reviresco" booth at Enfilade coming up in May.  He always has a large table, displaying all his kits and accessories.  He ran a dirigible game a few years back, with 28mm paper blimps that were quite nice.

His paper kits when assembled and detailed up are amazing. But I'd be afraid of transporting a finished piece around.  Especially here in the rainy Pacific Northwest.
